Ph1 172:
Iv got a 4'' diameter caf (bought for 10 quid from Homebase) running from the fog light, sitting just under the inlet of the kit.
Had to relocate the horns a bit due to the size
Also cut a lot of plastic from behind the bumper grills.
Works very well indeed
It'll cost you loads to wrap the whole system and for bugger all result in reality.
Cost me about 90 to wrap a 182 mani. Clips alone are about a fiver each or something daft
You dont need coilovers for everyday normal road use. Complete overkill - track yes, road no. (IMO)
Brake upgrades too. Decent set of front pads and disks is all you need. Brakes on these are pretty good out the factory.
Problem is folk hear about Joe Blogs in his turbo'd motor getting 25bhp just by cranking up the boost and then you read on here that someones spent 3k+ on a Clio and gained exactly the same!
Theres a lot bigger picture tho
It wouldnt be running long if the pulley collapsed. Cam pulley is serious heavy weight. How it broke is more alarming than owt else
Pulley must have come under heavy stress at some point in its life
Lad near me filmed his car, then filmed himself driving at 80mph OVER the set speed limit (60 zone). Police got wind and charged him but it got thrown out of court last week as there was no proof that he was driving or what the ''actual'' speed really was. (speedo could have been out)
Same would...
Tonnes and tonnes of threads on this.
Dont worry about the stones. Going by mine, you'll hardly get any up into the IK area and what does wouldnt get sucked in as thats what the filter is for ;)
Get the axle stands out. Should only take half a hour max to cut and adjust it or even better, throw it in the bin and get a new system. Magnex are the equivalent of buying a radio cassette player for your car in 2008
NEVER lay under a car just by using a trolly jack.
Thats what axle stands are for obviously.
Good example, few years back we were doing my mates brakes and the trolly jack lost its oil without warning and collapsed. Anyone under the car and they'd a been a gonner. Also had one slowly lose...
Ph2 designed decat fits a ph1 so i reckon it could fit with a bit of adjusting all the way along the system.
At your risk tho so probably not worth trying
Another tip is when the car revs up on idle, stationary, hand brake on, car in gear and slowly lift the clutch out to bring the revs down 'manually'
if you can bring it down so its nearly stalling, put it back into neutral and it still revs up your probably sucking in air somewhere
TB spring
TB cable
Air leak from a gasket
Air leak from a pipe not connected (vacum on the plenum, IVC pipe, or Intake pipe)
Your TB wont need cleaning if its as high as 2 - 2.5k idle. Thats more than a bit of carbon build up
Yeah but is it sitting against the gromit?
If its only as little as 2mm off it will race your idle up
2 seconds to check. Car revs up, open the bonnet and physically move the black holder to see
Jamesstone, ph1's dont have a acoustic valve
Check the throttle cable isnt frayed. Also check that the cable holder (the black disk on the TB) is sitting back against the idle gromit.
Most common problem with ph1's is the spring on the TB wear out.
Is having a car worth it when you have public transport and a taxi service ? ;)
All depends what your after. He's already got cams etc so mods in other areas would compliment the car nicely
Quoted figure of £600, the bhp figure of 15 brake and the mods listed might get less, might get...
Proper stage 1 head from someone who knows what their doing on the F4R's head is 600+ ball park figure. For 350 you'll get a shoddy pointless job and thats coming from being a victim of it
Would need a mapping sesh to remember. another £300+ ;)
Stock brakes are fine for road use. If you need to use them to the advantage of outbreaking someone to be a 'performance advantage' you'd have to be tooling it big time!
Usual drill is if the car in front brakes, thats when the person behind does and if your the rear car then you'd be dictated...
Take it your meaning the plenum, the bit on the top of the engine with Renault Sport written on it??
Inlet is the 90 degree bend between head and plenum ;)
Plenum, 2 10 mm bolts at the back of the engine, row of 10mm's at the front. unplug the sensors, breather and TB / TB cable as...
