You know back in the old days... the CS blue forum old days... I was the only one on here using and preaching about linux ! Im impressed at how much it has become mainstream !
Exact same thing just happend with a mates 360 was watching a dvd on it.. barely on for 5 minutes and it crashed.. switched it off and back on and 3 red lights ring of death !
Bet it was sweet.. ye they come with blue lights too.. screw it .. I can come up with something.. only thing is they dont seem to have them on the UK dell site :(

ah okay your using ubuntu, forget the /mnt/sysimage then.
Your drives are mounted as read-only when you go into rescue mode so you must re-mount them as read/write using
mount -rw -o remount
that will remount / as read/write. if you /etc is on a seperate partition you must remount that...
root is normally disabled for remote SSH logins by default (for security), you should log in with a normal user account then su to root.
if your running in rescue mode then your running a 'virtual' filesystem, your editing a virtual file...
dont edit /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow
DO edit...
If you drag it to their C$ share then run the .exe you will intsall it on your machine.. not theirs :rolleyes:
You would need physical access to their system, or edit their boot file to launch it automatically next time they reboot.
You basically provide the installer with a file, in that file has all the values for the choices the installer normally prompts you for..
eg. you insert the installion disk with your auto-install file on it and walk away.. come back later and its fully installed with all your options.

When you boot into single user mode does it boot without problem ? and are your drives being mounted correctly or are you having to manually mount them.
Have you tried booting into linux rescue mode ?
If you can, boot to rescue mode then cd to /mnt/sysimage/etc and edit your...
The all have a manufactor date on the back.. granted its normal built couple months before you buy it but they can hardly refuse if the date is not even a year old..
I ordered a complete build of pc parts from OcUK a while back, got exactly what I ordered and quick delivery.. BUT !! I didnt have any problems so couldnt comment on their returns, others seem to have had problems so would probably order somewhere else.
A mate of mine's just got the ring of death on the w/end..
Had a look and after about an hour of kicking and shaking it.. it booted up again and is still working 2 days on.. touch wood it was just a 'blip' but im pretty sure its gonna die soon.
I do ! and they are being left behind big time as I can get my tv shows before they air over here, commerical free and in HD !
They are just starting to catch up with music downloads which got a kick in the ass when napster first came out.. now they are getting a kick in the ass with regards...
Like I said in the other thread.. your trying to run native windows programs on linux.. I dare you to try and run a native linux program on windows..

PS. looks like a 2 minute job to me..
Just for s***s and giggles I tweaked a version of linux to see how quickly I could get it to boot to a GUI login.. spent ages tweaking init.. the results..
7 seconds to boot after post screen lol.. almost instant on heh..
Ok ye it was only running the essentials but it was a working system !
Its worth mentioning, 137 update yes.. but those updates include updates to the operating system ASWELL as all the free software packages you have installed.. windows dont do that.. you wanna update a program.. you gotta go to the programs website or update via the program itself, with linux its...
