Games moved on a lot now compered to when some of us started modding these.
I could have got the same gains on mine for half the cash now than 2 / 3 years back !
Its only worth modding the Clio if your thinking of holding on to it for a while imo
Some good gains to be had if you mod it right but versus a turbo car the cost to mod is extortionate for little gains, compared.
Thats a damn good point mate !
Its cracked at the back of the silencer (facing the axle) and the front and underneith is undented / fine so really it shouldnt be blowing or have cracked like it has.
I'll have a look into it
Finally got round to getting my blowing exhaust checked today.
The Magnex centre section is blowing right the way round the silencer area where the pipe section comes out, big crack, due to me bouncing it off a rogue speed bump a month back.
Is it wise to get it welded back up or is it best...
Due to their high driving position Clio Sport models feel slower than what they actually are (imo)
It'll probably losen up naturally as it adjusts yo your driving style.
You could start by using Shell V-power on fill ups. Chances are its been filled up using Supermarket cr4p
I used a drill with a sanding attachment to start with (about a 80 grain) to get the rough off then sanded, rubbed down to a mirror finish.
Getting in between the letters was hard to do and wasnt gonna look right so i ended up just sanding the whole Renault Sport writting off!
To get a half...
Although iv spent a lot on mine and it does what i set out to do, blow CTR's away, it does annoy me when i see a mate do a 14.5, 0.2 seconds quicker than me for a few pence spent on his Civic Vtec hatch thing!
I dont want to know about how crap rolling roads are etc as i know that already lol but out of interest and going by transmission losses how much bhp at the fly roughly have i got with a reading of 167 @ the wheels ??
cheers :)
Mines sh1t for the money iv put in also.
Got headwork, cams, inlet, decat, map, Maxogen and still only get a 14.7 down the quarter!
Could have bought a small turbo'd car and got 300 bhp + for the money spent
Remove the big bar that runs along the back in the boot. Fold the seats forward and in the middle is a torx bolt. Undo that and the back should lift straight out
Cups never came with the fuel rail cover did they? so they cant be too important
Should be easy enough to fit the bar. Just slots in and bolts up at the ecu point and bolts straight up near the front slam
I have to agree like.
If your handy with a welder then its fine going the cheap route as you can bodge it up where necessary but the welds will fail on a low budget option after a short period of time.
Had a Viper then went to a Maxogen and there was bugger all difference in noticeable acceleration.
Maxogen is regarded as the best but at a price. Its up to you to decide if that price is worth it or not.
Which ever you choose to get the best out of it, your better getting it mapped...
I havent seen or heard of anyone completing a 225 conversion in a Clio yet so it cant be as easy as it all sounds.
Never even seen a 225 in a breakers yet !
VAG engines been done and the 20 valve lump is common so thats a far better compromise and probably a lot cheaper than a 225...
