    200bhp Petrol vs 200bhp Diesel

If your not on cam a turbo diesel will catch you out every time ! My mate in his VRS Skoda wolfed it past me when i was off gaurd (just coming off a roundabout at say 30mph) and it took quite a bit of reving and mph to pull him back in! Unless youve driven a TDI you dont realise just how...

    Are 172's not so good?

I personally wouldnt own a 182 because the ones iv come up against seem gutless. Could be due to them not being bedded in etc Very impressed with the Cups. They have a very aggressive stance and are rapid in standard trim. Best looker for me is the phase 1 172's as they stand out as being...

Think you'll be lucky if you have 190 their mate but if you do get it, you must have one of the 'good ones'

Thats a impossible question mate. I dont like marmite sandwhiches, you might love them... There isnt such a thing as 'what looks best'...all down to personal taste

    172 REVING PROBLEM

    172 REVING PROBLEM

Good way of testing is as soon as it revs up open the bonnet and see if the TB cable holder part is resting back in the 'idle' position against the TB body. If it isnt its pretty sure to worn TB spring or a dodgy cable

    172 REVING PROBLEM

Heard someone say this before. When its sat at 1500 rpm all the time there's more to it than a design fault, it shows a problem with the car. Most common over reving problem with these phase 1's is the spring on the TB becoming worn. In the past ive had leaking gaskets, dodgy or worn O...

    Smaller Wheels = Faster????

Your correct. I used to think wider tyres meant better grip but apparently thats not the case

Samco inlet pipe, 20 min install time.

they do a Samco for the phase 1's?? or have you got this one and just bending the breather over or under the throttle holder to fit?

    lowered car

After any drop its ideally best to replace the shocks if you can. OE shocks are designed to run with OE length springs.
  17. A

    lowered car

Yeah only if you running them with standard shocks ;) but then that would apply to any spring :) Whats the rule of thumb? any lower than 30 and you should replace your shocks with uprated ones?

    remap

Thats 110% correct plus they rip folk off in the process I took my car to Dastek in Fife for a piggy back a few years back and they claimed they couldnt fit it due to my car running really lean. For a charge of 100 and odd they were going to by-pass the regulator to sort my so called running...

Fitting a cold air feed from airbox to foglight/grill

Thats correct but he's on about a standard air box not a IK Totally different kettle of fish if you have a IK fitted. Its worth getting a decent CAF then

    Smaller Wheels = Faster????

Car came with 15's so thats the natural best all rounder and choice of wheel size for the car. Its a well known fact that 17's bog you down on acceleration. Only advantage of bigger wheels is for show and bigger stoppers.

Fitting a cold air feed from airbox to foglight/grill

Your not really going to get any real gains from doing this so is it really going to be worth the hassle ?

    Induction kit

Shouldnt make a difference? Its only the inlet pipe / TB thats different on the filter route

    Decats and the law.

Say you write your car off and the stainless steel exhaust has been covered but the decat hasnt. How are they going to tell whether you have a decat on or not?? If your insurance covers you for ''exhaust'' then surley there must be a grey area over the cat as a cat is part of the exhaust?
  28. A

    Decats and the law.

There has to be more to it than this. My mate used to work in a crash repair bit working with insurance and writing valuations etc and there no where near that thorough to go checking for bits of pipe under a car. They must have had something else on it for them to fine tooth comb this car...

    LAMBDA SENSOR WORRIES

There isnt anything you can do as far as i know. Wont damage the car. I just stuck some black tape behind the back of the dials to blank it out. Totally hidden, stops the light problem and if i needed to i can just peel it back off :)
