Depends what exhaust you have. Mine is a Magnex and between silencer and the cat area there aint that much room to play with from memory. Cutting into the mesh of that cat was never a option for obvious reasons :)

You wont get a 182 cat to fit matey without having to butcher the centre section back. The amount needed to be lopped off the 182 to bridge the link cuts into the mesh (internals) of the cat. Just use another cat from a different car or find a friendly MOT tester :)

There's only so much air a IK will suck in at any one time. The important thing is getting cold air into it from a decent source. One good CAF is all you need - in any case, space is limited in 172's / 182's.

Probably 'thee' biggest advantage of a 182 mani is if your running a decat its a piece of p155 to change come MOT time compered to the ball acher of the 172 unit.

182 cat will not fit as its too long but you can use a cat off another car and it'll be fine. My 172 never lost any top end, infact id say the opposite. Mine seemed to pull more higher up the rev range. Like any breathing mods its not essential to get it mapped but you will get the best...
