My £55 182 manifold has arrived!!!

After much commotion and delay (http://cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=233187) and the inlet manifold being sent instead of the exhaust manifold, the correct manifold arrived today. And as a bonus, he doesn't want the inlet returning. Woop woop.

So £130 delivered for a 182 manifold, 182 cat' and genuine RS inlet manifold, i'm over the moon.

The guy selling was a top bloke and has asked if he can get in touch whenever he gets similar cars in for breaking so there may be similar bargains available for you guys.

Now to start the conversion. The joys.

Does anyone know how much needs cutting from a 182 cat' to fit a 172 system?

awesome. you got a bloody good deal.

I'm sure i read somewhere as long as you've got the link pipe you don't need to cut anything?? (although that WAS ph2)

do you not 'know' an MOT tester?? lol ;)
Friend of a friend style. He spent 20 minutes trying to get my 172 through last week and that is currently only on a Janspeed sport cat'. It passed though ;)

It's not worth the chance though and if the parts are there, why not.

fair enough.

i've got a straight through pipe where my cat should be lol, and im always panicking as i commute back and forward past a VOSA check point... the b******s pull everyone and everything. Luckily not me... yet

I never wanted to chance a full de-cat as the 172 jobbies are so difficult to fit.

try it on the cup mate!!!! Utter shite! The heat shielding and cross members are massive on the cup! Never again (except to but the cat back on lol)

Should be the same as my 172, horrible 2 man job. Not difficult as such, just fiddly and time consuming. As you say, never again.

You wont get a 182 cat to fit matey without having to butcher the centre section back.

The amount needed to be lopped off the 182 to bridge the link cuts into the mesh (internals) of the cat.

Just use another cat from a different car or find a friendly MOT tester :)

Just realised that Andy. I've got a link pipe due but I am going to mod' the centre pipe to fit the 182 cat'.

when mine was done, they shortened the cat itself i'm sure! are there two sections of pipe between the main body and the flanges?

Depends what exhaust you have. Mine is a Magnex and between silencer and the cat area there aint that much room to play with from memory.

Cutting into the mesh of that cat was never a option for obvious reasons :)
