I was a bit shocked really mate! Kind of walked off not thinking about then I realised some bare primer was exposed at the very bottom of my car.
To be honest you can't really see it but I know its there and will REALLY annoy me. Was going to get an alloy resprayed where some of the laquer has...
Sadly its a Direct Line and Norwich Union approved bodyshop at a very well established dealership.
Makes you think...luckilly you can specify where your car is repaired under most insurance schemes.
He first tried some G3 compound then went in and got the thinners. Obviously as he was the professional I left it to his judgement but I never specifically suggested or asked for the thinners, and he applied it himself.
Yeah pretty poor considering he is meant to be a pro, you are right thought that's exactly what he said it was.
Do you think its cheeky asking for him to help sort it out as even though I asked him to check my car I didn't ask him to remove the paint that was on there, even if it wasn't perfect?
Mate I have got the same problem! Its an allergy, and gets better and worse again all the time so have reverted to always wearing gloves now, but make sure you get the ones that are specially for sensitive skin otherwise the latex and powder can make things worse. Try using other products and...
Have been working at a garage this week as got some free time, and took the 172 to the bodyshop round the back. I asked the guy there to take a peak at the lower part of the front grille on my car, I had suspected it had been resprayed prior to purchase as the paint was slightly different there...
I don't really like doing mates cars as I often just buckle when they say "how much" and say "oh just get me a pint" - so often end up knackered and worse off!
Claying isn't really that difficult and should not take anything like 3 hours to complete even on a large vehicle.
I would just ask...
Looks pretty good, otherwise AG do their own which is a mixture of SRP and EGP.
For me though still easier and produces better results sealing and waxing then using a decent QD in between.
I do get your question - I am saying it is easier IN THE LONG RUN to get rid of the swirls and seal the paint rather than using one of these all in one polishes/sealants/waxes every time you wash your car.
Decent sealant will make the car far easier to clean and a decent polish with a PC will...
If you have the Poorboys polishes then you should be able to get rid of the majority of swirls. You could look into a glaze however to further improve the situation, I use Chemical Guys EZ Glaze II and works a treat.
Depends what the paint is like, if you have a PC you would be better off removing the swirls than covering them. I would recommend the Menzerna range, have worked excellently for me via PC even from my first attempt. Go to Clean Your Car for the range.
If you have SRP I would use this after the...
I work for BMW UK and have seen the new 1 Series Coupe in the flesh, looks mint, better than the 3 Series perhaps. If they made a hot version it would be immense, e.g. rumours of the M5 engine in the new M3, then putting the new M3 engine into the 1 Series Coupe.
All rumours though still at the...
Yeah that would be fine, although not really necessary. If you seal the paint, depending on what product you used I would expect around a good 2-3 months protection.
If you use SRP it will remove whatever wax or sealant you have on and will then need reapplying if you want to protect what you...
I leave a printed note covering my dials in capitals saying "PLEASE DO NOT CLEAN MY CAR."
Sure they might think it is a little bit extreme but at the end of the day it would cost me time and money to fix their "work".
They are b****cks - end of.
I would really not recommend some of the ideas posted so far such as brake fluid as it is on the inside of a car and a tiny mistake could make a far worse mess.
As posted, try the AG tar remover on some cotton wool, should come off fairly easilly. For something a little tougher try nail varnish...
Yeah the inside of my wheels and backs of my arches are dirty too - but without a ramp not much I can do right now. Also noticed my discs have corroded/rusted too - look bloody rubbish as it is like a yellowy/ goldy colour. Will be doing some severe braking tonight I feel
When I get...
Without a doubt Blackfire Long Lasting Tyre Gel - really deep black, can be built up for a glossy finish depending on your preference and stays black even in the soaking wet - mine were still really black after 200 miles in drenched motorways.
Quite expensive but you don't need much - go to...
Damn, can't find a camera anywhere but will just give a brief summary:
Jetseal seemed to work really well on wheels, obviously can't tell about durability yet but left a high gloss finish. Will see how it wears.
After cleaning the car I gave it a coat of CG EZ Glaze II just to get rid of all...
I have just purchased Riz's WMF as he said it did not add much to his (non-metallic) Racing Blue. He also kindly put in a little sample of the Jetseal which should be just enough to do a couple of layers on my wheels.
Now though instead of it raining it is too sunny to work outside, so I will...
