Mine has done 35k and still looks immaculate. Rather sad but I actually have some driving gloves - I have some eczema on my hand so it stops that rubbing against the wheel that has some products on, and also makes me look PIMP ;)
It is ok when first applied but rather quickly deteriorates unless you reapply the second product every 6 months or so, basically just a sealant system - and horrendously overpriced when carried out at a dealer.
Just like calling a Porsche a Porsche though - if I am going to drive a Porsche I will say I am driving a Porsche, not just I am driving a car. Most people on here use PCs for detailing rather than a rotary type machine so to be specific they refer to them as PCs...
I just left mine in the rain! Looked very good from about 10 foot away just grimy up close. The torrential rain actually cleaned it up rather well.
Gave it a coat of Body Blitz sealant and some more 50/50 today, Collinites on the windows, Jet Seal on the wheels, then all plastics and arches. It...
Yeah I suppose the washed ones aren't quite the same as my new ones, but I have so many now I don't really notice tbh!
Nothing beats a brand new one IMO .
Don't rate the Megs stuff, is too sticky and runs off too quickly in the wet. Does have a nice glossy finish when first applied but thats about it as far as I can tell really. Sorry to piss on your bonfire mate! ;)
Not a great deal in the scheme of things... all the Cup drivers I know are fat b******s anyway, one less burger a day would make more of a difference to a few grams of clearcoat!
Me too... and I now never wash my car when the temperature is above 15 degrees celcius and there isn't a a fairly thick cloud covering.
Pretty cool aren't we.... :D
Yeah did it on the day of the monsoon. Pretty good of them to spend at least an hour and a half on it though, would have been at least £150 normally. Looks a lot better especially with all the stone chips covered now too. Will give it a machine polish tomorrow to bring it all up to par though...
Pleased to say they did this yesterday and did a thorough job - especially considering it was free! Only a minor bit of overspray which came off with some G3 and will be polishing properly tomorrow IF the rain holds out! Even gave me the rest of the paint he mixed so touched in the couple of...
I keep the clay warm but not so hot is doesn't keep its shape. Like most detailing techniques, a fine art to it!
If a car looks bad after claying it may be it has just removed and products with fillers rather than it has induced the marks itself.
Definitely worth getting a decent polish... I was going to get my car done in a bodyshop but got recommended against it. Would probably be ok if the guys in there know how to use a rotary but they simply don't have the time to spend to get it looking perfect. I would get a proper detailer to...
Clay is great stuff...I keep a pot of warm water out when claying and dunk it in there after every panel or so.
Admitedly it does normally leave a few minor marks but I only clay as part of a full detail - they are only very minor though when I clay, some Scratch X or even SRP and they are...
My similar question: i was thinking of tying my shoe laces today and couldn't think of a way to do them. my laces are black and 15.5 cm in length, how would you guys recommend tying them?
I'm thinking of doing mine a gloss black, should look good as the car is black with the silver 172 wheels so should be a nice contrast against the calipers and compliment the high gloss finish of the paint.
50/50 is perfectly good I think on a well prepped car, although will probably try the Onyx when the pot runs out.. or maybe a little sooner if I get impatient! ;)
Riz that WMF you sold me, have to say after initially dismissing it I haven't washed the car for 2 weeks and still has a really liquid gloss to it even under the dust, noticably more so than just wax alone. The Jetseal is working a treat on the wheels too, should have enough left for one more...
Good news! The bodyshop manager has agreed to take it into the oven and do it properly. Best part is the price: £0 :D
It is strange when someone does you a genuine favour these days, just hope they do a good job now!
Very easy to apply and fairly durable. Looks great though, I highly recommend it - you will not be disappointed. Even the XXX is good looks wise just doesn't last too long.
Ha well I wasn't really thinking of buying the Destiny - think the Onyx is pushing the boat out lol. Would be good to see some glory shot though!
I'm waiting for the car to get resprayed at the front (after having words with the bodyshop guy today first!:dead:) and want to get some decent...
Looks great, good write up too. Just a shame it wasn't sunnier to show off the shine a bit more though!
Did the Destiny add a lot to the looks you notice?
Yeah I agree, no point having kept such good care of the car to get a lousy repair on it.
Might see if he can spray it asa temp job and see how it looks, as I will be going to the other bodyshop anyway. Will be glad to get it 100% though anyway as it wasn't quite there before anyway so that is...
