PB 172. The morning after RS

Ah ok gotcha, yeah it is hideous at the mo, I did some de-yellowing today. Namely the bullets and injector cover. Also going to get a quote on the front bumper and rear quarter panel and get them done asap.

What do you mean by not a true 172? Not really sure what else it could be :S

PB 172. The morning after RS

It seems like that, I've renewed all the sensors that needed doing. I'll buy some new leads and plugs for the service anyway and see where we go from there. It probably has incorrect plugs fitted too like my last 172

PB 172. The morning after RS

Thanks chap, odd it hasn't flagged up a code but then it seems like renault's are a bit of a lottery for that. Worth trying a working used one first?

PB 172. The morning after RS

Small update. Finished my bullets and injector cover today. Also got a chance to fit my knock and air inlet temp sensors (both were repeatedly being thrown up on the diagnostics) and once cleared, haven't come back. The car now feels alot better and has got alot of its 'bite' back. My last...

    Cornish 172 Flamer

Yeah I'll be there friday. As for splitters, it depends which one you want. I liked the fabia one on mine and it was £12 from TPS

    Cornish 172 Flamer

Now there's a flamer local to me, it eases the pain of mine going slightly ha! Yours is even cheaper than mine, mine owed me £500 as I'd swapped it for my VTI-s that was swapped for my golf which I bought for £500 :D. Can't wait til you get stuck in on this and get it looking as it should. A...

[Nov 6, 2015] SW South monthly meet (Par)

I'd imagine some have seen I no longer have the flamer but I'll be in the PB I've now got. It's got a loud longlife exhuast so I apologize in advance BUT it won't sound like a tractor as the dephaser is done on this one :) anyone else confirmed apart from the 6?

PB 172. The morning after RS

Bullets are now being prepped along with a few other bits, under the bonnet was.....comical.....you'll all love it. Also had a chance to look at the rear tyres today, I had some part worns fitted (6+mm tread) and didn't expect much but the fitter has put on two hankook tyres. At least they're...

PB 172. The morning after RS

Ok so the winter wheels didn't go to plan, the bore was 5mm to small and as they were only cheap I wasn't prepared to have them machined. BUT I got 2 new boots fitted on the rear so no more bald tyres. I now want to address the only running issue which is a big hesitation when putting my foot...

PB 172. The morning after RS

Ah yes Chris, bullets coming off today and going silver, forgot about the stickers but needless to say they're coming off I'm not 17 anymore, centre caps are in the boot but will be furbed with the alloys, picking up winter wheels today, got my eyes on a set of xenons already, exhaust will be...

PB 172. The morning after RS

A question for the electrical heads on here. It looks as if the clio has had a toad alarm installed but there's no fob for it and no bleeps or non-standard alarm/lock actions. Can I assume it's redundant and remove it? Or would it be best to just leave it be.
  13. J

PB 172. The morning after RS

To be honest I do like the OEM look on clios but I do like the OZ's too. I'd like some bright silver Turini's but they're simply out of budget at the mo. Maybe some bright silver 182 alloys would look good? Not really a fan of the standard 172 wheels though.

PB 172. The morning after RS

I won't bore you all with the full write up (It's on my thread on Detailing World) but for anyone interested, here's how she's standing after todays effort: The wheels will be re-furbed and new boots all round, but the paint that's there is actually very clean and glossy: I've also...

PB 172. The morning after RS

Hi Chris I spotted the Megane. I had just spent 5 hours washing, decon, polishing and tidying up the paint on her. There's a fair amount of tidying up to do but nothing too drastic.

PB 172. The morning after RS

Ah ok, in any case it turned out the new sensor was the same type plug as the old one so didn't need the loom in the end.

PB 172. The morning after RS

You've reminded me there's a full alignment print-out in the folder, I think it was fairly recent too. I'll post it up in a bit

She's not the freshest daisy. But I enjoy a challenge and at the end of the day, it's just a bit of fun. If it goes tits up no worries :)

PB 172. The morning after RS

So postie dropped off a couple small bits for me: Changing sensors is fine but I'm a bit of a noob with wiring, what are these and what job do they do: I thought they were just clear crimps? But thought i'd ask.

Lovely Flamer with 182 alloys. Brynawel, Brynmawr.

If it has an AF freshener (black one white writing) then most likely my old one.
  21. J

PB 172. The morning after RS

Well folks I'm confident it will turn out fine. As said before, tyres, a couple sensors and some bodywork is by the by. At the end I'll have a nice PB with a half decent history (people say it's worthless but we're all different and I just prefer it) and alot less mileage. May seem like a...

PB 172. The morning after RS

Thanks chap. I did love the flamer but it too had it's issues and did need some bodywork doing (a large crack in the front bumper springs to mind). To be fair the pictures above are the most un-flattering ever. Covered in rain, just done a 200 odd mile trip and a wash mitt hasn't gone anywhere...

So moving forward. What everyones opinions on colour 'schemes' on blacks.

Ah ok sorry I didn't fully understand what you meant.

PB 172. The morning after RS

Surely it would look worse to buyers if the log says it's been examined but the buyer has gone to some length to remove the category?
  26. J

PB 172. The morning after RS

Not registered either on the V5 or on car check. Well once I get stuck in I'm sure I'll have everything off/apart and have a good nosey. As said, time will tell. Neither of the 172's are showroom fresh minters and neither worth any significant amount of money as long as I get this one to the...

PB 172. The morning after RS

To be honest, I'd only had the flamer 3 months and knew literally nothing about it's history before I had it. The way I saw it was spend £700 to have a clio with no history has been accident damaged in the past and still needed it's own niggles sorting and on 126K. Or start again with one that's...
  28. J

PB 172. The morning after RS

So finally bit the bullet and decided I didn't want to carry on with my flamer: Due to the mileage, lack of history and it's accident log in 2011, my mind got the better of me and I didn't want to spend £700 to get all the belts and dephaser done. So the hunt was on for a new car. I thought...

    My Flame Red 172

Called the locksmith and he's fairly confident the end of the barrel is gummed up and things aren't clicking into place as they should, worst case scenario he has to supply a barrel and new key. £80 which seems fair considering he's got to come to me, remove the old barrel (going to be a pain as...

    My Flame Red 172

It should just be a case of getting the barrel out and I'll just change the locks, barrel and key over. There's a set local to me, both locks, key blade and barrel for £20
