Checked the abs rings for splits yet?
Also, check the connector to the direction sensor, it's under the handbrake trim. It has an arrow pointing forwards.
That won't work as the column and wheel have an alignment spline that won't allow this....you need to undo the rack to column universal joint and turn the steering wheel to the tight position.
Also need to remove and realign the airbag clock spring , otherwise there is the risk of damaging it...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
'Ello Chris!
As Chris mentioned we run the rover in BARC Tintops, it's a pretty good series, focused in the south east
Silverstone and Snetterton are the furthest circuits we use. (mostly brands hatch and lydden).
I can check our regs for if you like for...
If I were you I'd join your local motor club that organises sprints, then check the regulations for what events you want to do.
It may be no good buying parts/ modifying bits only to find it's not allowed in their regs or SRs.
No worries mate, hope the mad house wasn't too much for you ?!?.....having a roller derby playing wife, and a load of French girls taking showers upstairs after running the major series run is a normal occurance for us here....
good luck with the project and nice to meet you two.
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
I would have asked for extra quali time in with another race series. New car/driver and a circuit muck up. They can only say yes/no....
I use my manual lever guage all the time, it's pretty accurate if you know how to use it.
Advantages are, no batteries, cheap, easy to transport.
Disadvantages, time to set up.
Cheers Fred, I've got the old engine out of his car and the chap has just turned up and dropped off his newly rebuilt replacement and it's a 182 lump without inlets, I've just spent a couple of hours matching the inlets while waiting for him , so didn't want to waste a few hours of my life......
Being lazy (not searching) and using the phone in a crap internet reception area (workshop).
So.....cutting a long story short.
Phase 1 car, 182 engine, 172 phase1 upper inlet.
Will they work together? (It's also getting a catch tank fitted to the rear head breather).
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
It was worth it in the end....pole and x2 1st places. (BARC sec tintops at silverstone).
'Boots' destroyed a near side cv joint on the last lap and Tom coaxed it over the line.
