Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Lovely car in the flesh, and comfy too!

There are a few good championships to choose from, a couple of clios on this site are being sorted for Track Attack Race Clubs 'French Trophy', we compete in the BARC-SEC tintops series here.....http://www.barcsoutheast.co.uk/index.html
Theres no cheating if you build a 'clio 172' as they had 15" and 16" wheels for example. Some clio 172's had increased caster and thinner glass, some clio 172's had......
I'm not splitting hairs but the list could go on.
Listen, theses are draft regs, so I'm guessing a more detailed set will be finalised in the future......
Chip has raised a few points, and by interpretation there are others.
I personally really like the sound of this series, as its cheap and its got french cars in it, two things I like!:o...
Use a decent bulkhead fixing for starters, no crappy grommets.
It depends on what other bits you are going to use, battery, cutoff switch etc... And where you want to locate them.
Check the position of the switch, and where the terminals would be.......best to have negative touching down onto the body instead of positive if for example someone were to tread on the switch mounting bracket, otherwise 'boom' goes the battery which is under the passenger seat.
Retro sounds. 1500cc and supercharged.

If I had more time today, really and truly I could have corner weighted and set up the suspension.
Its coming together quite nicely that thing......
I think you'll agree I need to clear the Alladins cave soon. Once the Alfa is gone I'm clearing the place out.
Our holiday trip From kent to Alsace in France and back, mostly on autoroutes (85mph) loaded with kids, wife and some bags.
Averaged 43mph.
40mpg normal running around and stuff all in my phase 1 172.
Might be worth getting it plugged in to Renault clip machine.
Once warmed up (fan cutting in) read the parameters of the manifold pressure, it should be around 380 mbar at idle for a correctly timed/good condition engine, no parts needed to replace.
Project 8 racing saloons championship, always close and as you can see quite hard.
I built these two to compete in the series a while back.
This photo was taken from the pitlane at the start of the Victor Meldrew race we were invited to do.(its a handicap race where the fast boys start at the...
Kenny in the civic stopped dead in the tree/bank while Luke went end to end a couple of times down the track in the integra. Both were ok. Although Kenny stretched his belts.......
