It wont be the tensioner gone slack believe me, that spring is so hard. But if your buying a kit you get a tensioner with the pulleys and belt.
The small pulley under the aircon pump isnt actually as hard as youd think to turn, at that point there isnt that much tension on the belt, as its come...
As above, how do i remove the black piece of trim in the back bumper? want to spray it black so it dont go bladdy grey every time i wash the car!
Im guessing its just clipped on and you pull it off but would rather ask than break it! :nono:
No didnt fit a kit, just had to take the tensioner off, put the belt back on correctly, and re-fit, its all done now. but what an arse, i had to make my own tool at work to do it as well. all i took off was the slam panel and grill made. I cant see how the inner arch would help tbh as the engine...
Right guys, thanks Its done, tensioner back on, and what an arse. ive had to make a few tools at work to do it and now its a bobber!
Didnt remove the bumper, or slacken engine mounts, just took off slam panel and grill.
Will post pics of the tools i made when ive got time.
Oh and i found it...
The system must be pressurised, thats how it stops the coolant boiling over at 100 Oc If youve got a leak then get it sorted asap. And depending on how much of a leak your talking, over a period of time the water level would drop because its allowing the water vapour to get away, this would...
Good machining there mate, i may make one at work now! Im handy in the machine shop but it'd defo take more than my dinner break for me lol.
Is ther any chance that you could knock up a quick drawing? With it taking me longer to make i cant really take mine out of the car lol.
i think you can rule out the tensioner becoming weak, that spring is so hard its unbelievable im havin the biggest bit*h getting mine back on, ive made a few tools to help me with it, ill post pics when ive got time... thats if i ever get it back on ffs!!!
About something being siezed slightly...
Right guy, after removing just the actual tensioner (the spring) i cleaned it up at work last night and im off to re-fit it now, will be a biatch, and no ive not taken anything off, bumper wise, yet..... lol
Are you sure its the water pump? the engines have a shi**y whirling noise all the time... my 1.6 16v meg does it. the 172 does it, ive seen matty J's 172 today, his does it..... always sounds like it from under the cambelt cover, but its nowt 2 worry about.
Take the tension off of the auxiliary belt on a 172? Do you just remove the top bolt on the big spring tensioner? If so, surely its under a lot of tension when trying to put it back on :S
If youve read my other thread about *alternator belt, bad things happening*
Then you will see im having...
Well i got a megane coupe in the same silver, (172 not on the road yet)
And ive got clear lenses, with orange bulbs, and tbh they look mint, i had the silver blubs but it looked 2 plain on a silver, the tiny bit of orange just breaks that trend a bit. GO ORANGE BULB!!!
they will fit yeh, but you'd need orange bulbs or the silver ones that glow orange. Because theyre clear lenses and your normal ones are orange with a clear bulb. you get what i mean?
Hi peeps, as above really, ive jst got a ph2 172 and having not driven one before i want some advice on how things should be, So here goes....
First, the clutch, its very hard to press, very springey on the way back up and is either on or off tbh lol, is this right?
2nd, the idle, now ive read...
Countersunk bolts grip in very well, due to the big surface area of the countersink.... Before you attempt to undo them you should always give them a good smack with a brass/ali drift and a hammer, it just helps to break the hold.
And with torx bits, you shouldnt really use a impact gun tbh...
I think, when i get it, and can have a good look properly i'll order a tensioner anyway, and removed alternator and check the bearings etc.. going to do the front discs and pads as well, any1 know roughly how much parts will be?
