Love the stock hatch race series, real cars really racing!! and they're definately not shy of a bump or two makes it so exciting to watch.
I'm gonna have a go at this as soon as i'm financially stable enough.
Re: My mk1 track car blog
Brilliant progress fella great to see you've not taken too much of a knock from the tinworm discovery! The car looks really good in the pics can't be as bigger shed as you keep saying!!
Re: Another Clio MK1 Project :-)
Looks like a good project and you seem making a thorough job of what you're doing. I thought our sehell was pretty good but it sounds like got a minter there. Keep us update
Glad you got your temp gauge working, the fact yurs didn't wokr had me scratching my head. Did the diode idea work with the rev counter? That was also our idea (can't remember if I discussed it with you or someone else). What diodes did you use and where did you get them from?
Moo
Yeah i understand what you mean about the car weighing as little as possible but we want the car to look like the finished article. The idea is to make the car look like it was built from the ground up to be how it is rather than stripped down.
Just a tiny update today as i'm having to work for the next couple of weekends to raise money for the fast approaching paintjob. However to make sure we keep making progress i've been tinkering with little bits and bobs during my lunch breaks.
This time i've been adjusting the column covers as...
What is that?? The Aprillia twin?? I used to have a Husqvaurna 510SM that was a a hoot so i'm sure you'll have plenty of one wheel fun on that.
Very nice.
Thanks for the comments lads, good to hear we're doing it right
Went down the garage today to do some work but an angry old man complained about the noise  which stopped play for a bit. But that wasn't before we found out we have remove more than enough weight from the rear!
This photo...
Sorry about the massive post but we've been pretty busy.
Right not much progress from last weekend as I was working to try and get some money for the project, so I left Moo in charge of finishing off the din panel.
First of all I glued the carbon fibre din panel into the radio surround, then I...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
As far as i can remember it's perfectly legal to drive a car without mot to the test as long as you have an apointment at the MOT centre.
Don't know if that helps?
Re: someph-ing different...........
This car is really coming along, love the subtle touches here and there. How are you planning to set up your coilovers since as much as i'd like a set for mine i'm not sure I know enough to set them up to get the best out of them?
Matteh, you have a pm.
Thanks for the comment on the dash it was quite a long winded job to shorten but I think it'll be well worth it.
As for the carbon fibre door panels, we got them from www.performance-trim.com who were very helpful and we got a prompt delivery.
Today was spent rebuilding Moo's remote controlled aeroplane which had a below par landing in early Janurary to free up somewhere safe for your new dash. This is the new shorter dash as the other one had the extra gauges in it which we didn't really want. This time we've also shortened the top...
Thought it sounded like the tensioner problem we had with our old VTS, just we were luckier than you LOL. Any idea why your valve spring broke? Hope you have more luck with the engine this time, you know where we are should you think we can help. Keep us posted on your progress, we've both got...
Humble apologies ditz Hope it doesn't end up ruling your life the way this one does ours lol.
At the moment there's not a vast amount of progress to report as i've been paying back some of the work Moo has done on this by helping him get his pitbike ready for the southern championships...
Moo had this happen to him the other day he recieved an e mail saying he'd been at fault in a 3 car accident (would've been one hell of a mess hitting 2 cars in a vx220 lol) and that there was a claim being made against him. He rang the insurance company, they followed it up and rang him back to...
Good job!!! Do love to see people saving weight as well as striving for more power the 2 should go hand in hand IMO. When I stripped the sound deadening out of the valver i weighed it and it weighs around 9kg.
Keep up the good work.
Re: My mk1 track car blog
Brilliant to see you still getting on with it I was starting to worry you and matteh had lost the battle as things have been so quiet.
Loving the oil cooler and those mirrors look super trick!!!
Re: My Ph1 172 track sl*g Progress Thread
Glad to hear you've more than likely got to the bottom othe missing horses didn't realise changing the cambelt meant stripping so much off!!!! Mega saving of 10kg you'd really struggle to find that anywhere else with the car already so stripped.
This...
Right since we've last posted we've sorted some pretty major things out. The first thing we did is have a major spend up to ensure we had all the components needed to complete the dry build before paint! Unfortunately due to the nature of most the parts we've ordered they won't be arriving for a...
I've fitted it in the project car and it's pretty damn simple if you know your way round a relay and the basics of wiring. Also put the ignition on a button so no key anymore. Pm me if you have any trouble and i'll try to help.
Sorry for the late reply, the roof was custom made by streamline carbon fibre and cost a small fortune as i had to pay for the mould to be made (which i unfortunately don't have any more) and I even had to find a clio without a sunroof in a breakers and cut the roof off it lol so if you wanted...
Thankyou so much everyone your support is really really appreciated.
The bumper is in the bodyshop now because it's in much worse condition than the rest of the shell so I thought i'd give them a head start before the shell gets dropped off there for a full inside outside repaint in a month...
I'm sticking with the black ones and the best price i've got is 186 delivered for a so called 6 hose set if we can group buy better then i'm in!!!!!!!!!
Done some looking around and rally designs have a kit for the 172 which they say contains 6 hoses and k tec say they're set only has 4, I'm so confused!
I'm getting a set of samco hoses for my phase 1 172 but everywhere (including samco themselves) list kits for 172 2002 onwards! Is there any differece between early and late cooling systems? I've seen phase 1s with hose kits so I presume they fit but I just want to confirm it?
