My 03 172 had an alarm siren below the windscreen with a renault cobra sticker on
Is this a factory/afterfit renault item worked with the stanard fob? Or am i missing a fob? Car i just got as a non runner so i dont know
I've got all the bits if you decide to refit. Would be best to get a picture down the front of the engine to see what's been removed. There are other ways to remove to air con that don't use the cup setup
Take it the best way to check would be to take the top inlet off and look down the lower while cranking?
Ive had it off and it looks wet but not had it off while cranking
I'll check the earth
What numbers would you expect to see on a standard pair of 172 camshafts?
They wouldn't actually state f4r on them would they?
I have a pair of camshafts out a 172 head and the inlet starts with f4ra and the exhaust f4re
Is that standard oe camshafts?
I understood the rs is a better casting than the non rs... Better flowing. But if you have a matched set they will be better still. Think you dont see as much gain going from rs to matched as you do from non rs to matched... If that makes sense
Fuel pump is defo priming and when i pull the pipe off the rail it squirts fuel all over.
Did have a spark but not sure it was that great!
Took crank sensor out and cleaned it
Ive left it now as it had the last laugh and took a chuck out my finger while i was plugging somert lol!
Think the...
Purchased a 172 that was half way through an engine swap.
Trying to start it but its not having it.
Will no water in cooling system stop it starting... Not sure if it has a level switch anywhere?
Imobiliser light goes out so im sure its not relatef to that. It primes and turns over. Owt else???
Mine did exactly the same. Wire from the fuel relay iirc and the ecu broke down. Spliced in a new one between the ecu plug and the relay and it was fine
Ok. By googling engine bays.. looking at ebay pics ect it would appear the long hose i have is from a cup... And the short hose is missing a good few feet! Its cut more or less over the top of the gearbox grrr!
Is some of the short pipe missing... I do have the other end which doesn't seam to match up. The long pipe, ive no idea how that routes and it dont seam to fit. Could the long pipe be off a cup?
Pics of the pipes i have....
The long one
The short one with end chopped off... The threaded end was attached to a short piece with pressure switch that seams to go in the pump and bolt to the block...
Yeah the original engine blew... The lad i got it from has half fitted a 182 engine and box. I still have the original 172 box which has a sensor and there is also a plug on the loom for it
Is that reprogramable? Or could i swap to a set out of a cup?
Sounds like it would be easier to get this car on the road and sell on and get a cup instead lol!
In theory then, if i was to remove the abs pump but leave the electrics in place... The speedo should still work? If i removed all the electrics as well I'm stuffed lol? Unless the car is using the gearbox sensor.
