I got mine with a rattling dephaser. Didnt have the 5k kick until after i got it changed. So i guess it could affect the power yes

My 172 did this after putting it through a high pressure car wash :S Stopped looked under bonnet, started it again and it was fine LOL

Found this while searching for same problem Tried fixing it several times by looking and fiddling with wiring under pass seat.... Mine turned out to be contector under drivers seat! D'oh 51 plate ,early 2002 172 btw :)

OK 1. Will a 205/45r16 fit ok on a standard 172 rim?? Reason being, im running 182 cup rims, and im soon fitting a pair of new tyres. My spare is a standard rim, but the tyre is not legal. Wanting to put the best of the pair im taking off on the spare 2.Do 195/45r16's fit on 182 cup rims??

removing the dash top does help .... i did it as i was fitting new tweeters in the stock locations, also made it SOOO easy to wire in the crossovers ect

my 51 plate has 9 previous... dont think its owt to worry about. Previous owner only had it 2 months.... brought it while his skyline was in the gargage lol

Im 34 :o got a 07 astra 1.7 cdti van (daily) ..02 172 (weekend) & a 16v'd S1 106 xsi (tracktoy)

another option.. fit a 182 manifold and the shortened cat the likes of ktec do for the conversion.. easy to swap then from cat to decat ;)

ive got a 16v'd S1 106 xsi.. stripped, caged, 4pots, soon to be diff'd, only around 130bhp.. but its so light! Got the 172 as a change from 106/saxo.. wanted a nice comfortable weekend car.. hence mine is just a normal one, not a cup. Really wanted a cup, but at the end of the day wanted aircon...

lol.. i like my toys.... i have a dedicated trackcar :) as well as the 172 ;) im from Louth area

quite why anyone would really want more power from a 172 is beyond me.. 230bhp will be nice... but i doubt useable, especially not on the road around lincolnshire! LOL
