Ive tried Euro's and GSF they don't do them (only the dogbone mount), wanted to avoid Vibratechnics as I would like to try and keep the car as standard as possible.
Thats a beaut mate really lovely condition.
I do quite like the photoshop with the gold
Would look even better with the polished lip to tie in with the silver body if you do go gold
Just took the balljoint off to check and the bolt holes are in the same place and same spacing test fitted the 172 wishbone into my williams subframe and it fits like a glove. 100% the same.
Interesting for all mk1 owners with possibilities for extra castor etc. Without changing anything else
I dont think the ball joint bolts are different, I tried to get the balljoint off the williams wishbone but one of the bolts is a bit seized so I didn't bother.
If the angle is different it will be minimal as you can see in the pictures but to me they look identical.
The concensus seems to be...
Thanks for the replies, so what about the wishbones then? Im sure they were identical.
In fact im going to take a pic now anyone know a quick way to upload photos from iphone?
I'm breaking a ph1 at the moment and took the wishbones off today, when i saw them i was surprised how much they looked like the ones on my williams.
Put them side by side with williams wishbones and they look identical!
Can anyone confirm if this is the case?
If so what other parts are...
Any welders in the South East available for a bit of body welding?
I need the front crossmember(that the front bumper bolts onto) drilled/cut out and replaced with a new piece on my Williams.
Must be good, not a handyman!
The car cannot be moved as the front is completely stripped so cannot...
Am thinking of either selling or breaking a clio 172 ph1 track car. Spec is as follows:
- Ally bonnet
- Ally radiator
- Cup wishbones
- Cup alternator set up (air-con deleted)
- Cup radiator fan
- Matched inlets
- RS stamped lower inlet
- Vibratechnics engine mount
- Vibratechnics gearbox mount...
I wouldn't like to say with aggressive use, but can't see what else would be better. You may be able to get high temperature 2K paint in the colour you want, but i would happily use 'normal' 2 pack on calipers, it bonds really well too much better adhesion
You can get industrial 2 pack paint...
it wouldn't be recommeded, but would probably be ok for normal road use. 2K paint is much more resilient than normal paint
Your best off just using 2K in the colour you want. no point VHT 1K then 2K lacquer on top
If you look closely at the pics the rust has gone through. Initially looked like surface rust but i took a wire wheel to it and ended up breaking through all the loose stuff.
Looks like its probably a common spot to rust on mk1 clio's, wondering how people are sorting it, welding patches or...
Just starting a restoration on my williams, have stripped the whole front end to look for rust and its surprisingly clean. Did come across 2 spots that are bad, both are on the front crossmember. Whats the best way to repair? Is it worth cutting the whole part out and replacing or just...
Currently have a set of 172 cup wishbones ready to go on my phase 1 to gain the added caster angle.
I'm looking to get the 172 cup subframe too, will this also be a straight swap? Have read threads regarding driveshaft lengths but thinking it shouldn't be a problem, can anyone confirm?
Also...
Have a pair of sparco seats with sparco side mounts to go in my phase 1.
Was advised that can bolt the side mounts straight in without subframes. I've mocked it up and 1 hole will need drilling on the floor of the car for each seat, the other 3 mounting points line up ok.
i don't need...

How are you connecting the terminals to the battery cable mate?
I've got cable and terminals, not sure best way to fix them together, my crimping pliers aren't big enough!
