I will be going down the inner door and boot skin next. Not sure if I like the idea of fibreglass tailgate, the back end is probably too light as it is!
Remember reading about one guy on here had his shell acid dipped I think it was to remove all the underseal/tar stuff from the bottom of his car - that's dedication.
Have stripped most of my ph1, have removed loads from the car including air con/interior/chopped loom etc.
It got me thinking, how far have people gone on here in pursuit of losing weight from the car?
On top of the common interior binned/lightweight battery/etc?
Does anyone know what the Burpspeed guys use?
I have been looking at the powerflex black series, or replacing the whole lot with brand new standard unless there are better alternatives available.
It's my first proper track car so am slowly trying to learn what is/isn't neccessary!
Have got a set of H&R coilovers for the phase 1 i'm currently building up to be a track-only car.
Before I fit them, I also have a set of 172 Cup wishbones to fit and so will be replacing all rubber bushes relating to suspension as well as top mounts.
Are PU bushes a MUST on a track-only...
That would be the obvious solution.
problem I have is that on another thread 3 people have used this belt so what I want to know now is what might be different about mine, or more importantly something I may have done wrong!

Thanks guys, the links should work you just need to copy and paste the whole lot into your browser rather than clicking it should work, it only highlighted half if the text for some reason.
the belt I have has 5 ribs, if the fit it to the left hand side grooves of the crank pulley then it...
Have bought a cup alternator set up after removing air con and pas pump. Have looked at some of the threads on here and bought the recommended 5pk847 (from memory) belt.
fitted it all up today, can any of our tech experts confirm I have routed the belt correctly?
This is view from bottom front...
Have recently bought a phase 1 172 to turn into a track-only toy.
After reading up on them, it seems that the phase 1 have a 'better' cylinder head with larger exhaust ports.
If this is the case why do they not produce MORE peak power? Or there any other differences between phase 1 and 2...
Anyone that has removed the power steering...did you replace the PAS pump with an idler pulley or can the belt just be re-routed?
I have a 172 cup alternator set up (air con has been removed) and i'm now going to swap over to a Saxo PAS pump. Only concern now is how it will all work now with...
Love it, gorgeous car.
I was thinking about getting one of these before I got my Golf but I've already got a williams that loves money being spent on it and I didn't fancy having 2 diva's! ;)
The more I see these the more I want one!
You are supposed to let paint fully cure before putting a wax/sealant on fresh paint.
Never heard of any problems putting a wax on fresh paint a few days later but you are supposed to wait to let the paint fully cure, around 30 days apparently. I would presume this applies more so to a tougher...
As above really, want to get a can of plastidip tomorrow and don't want to wait...anyone know where I can pick a can up round SE London/Essex/Kent way?
2-pack paint has got the shine 'built in' but you can only get it for solid colours.
Metallic paints are always a basecoat (matte) then a gloss clearcoat.
You can bodge a bit of shine out of basecoat as chapster says by polishing it up without lacquer, but you will get no where near the...
I didn't think these could be re-mapped?
Was going to buy one a few years ago and the reviews said it felt under-powered so I looked into remaps and apparently it couldn't be done.
