    Cat D.

All I would add to this if you do consider a cat C/D car... They are almost always advertised as 'very light front' or along similar lines, if it's an older cheaper car this could well be true but cars that sell for 4/5k plus will usually not be written off for such minor damage. Not...

Correct, however the test is actually a check, a 'vehicle identity check' and nothing to do with the standard of repairs. The tester can refuse the test though for whatever reason and effectively fail the car for something totally unrelated. My mates car failed a VIC check a few years however...

No mate. I've spent £800 on a ph1 that had just had dephaser and cambelt done. Spent between £1,000-1,200 on top so far, that has got me buckets/coilovers/service items/seatbelt/cup alternator/vibratechnics mounts/polycarb side windows. Not sure where 14k came from, or that I weigh 18 stone.

We seem to be getting back on topic now. Happy days. Harvsurrey, I know there are plenty more capable cars out there, the problem I have is I recently bought a house, all the real money I had went into that. That meant that I didn't have a lump of cash to buy a nice track car...my phase 1...

Another gem from one of budgies boyfriends. Could you not all all exchange witty remarks in private on a more relevant, off-topic part of the forum, or judging by your post counts, off the computer would be even better? I'm sure Budgie and his internet mates are all just as brave off the...

    Fantoms budget PH1 Track car

Coming along nicely, do you have the ally bonnet? Regarding the air con, I recently removed the compressor/pumps/rad etc from my ph1. Pretty straightforward, I bought the 172 cup alternator, upper and lower bracket, and a 6pk 1125 belt from ebay. Cost £80 for all the parts needed. There are...

Can I publicly apologise for not being an expert in lightweight clio's, a hero race car driver, or having the ultimate knowledge of the do's and don'ts of clio track tuning. For some stupid reason, I thought the Cliosport forum would be a great place to start.

I seriously doubt you would be as openly offensive in a pub to someone you didn't know. Or call a guy, that you also don't know, princess. Not just to me, but I bet not to most people. If you are, I'd suggest you're socially inept, and most probably don't get out much. I don't know many people...

No not a regular, done about 16 track days total i think, 9 in my own, fairly standard cars, and 6 or 7 in a caterham superlight r300. The caterham is a friends car (who does race). I have Reasonable experience. Enough to know how to drive quickly and considerately! Not sure why I need to prove...

Aimed at me I presume? Sorry if I offended you earlier because I pointed out just how much crap you were talking, but taking offense and making snide remarks on a forum is pathetic. Do you openly call people nobheads or do you dish out most of your abuse on this forum? The end result now is...

Munson, you're wrong on most counts mate. Have a lot of experience in karts from 12/13 years old. I'm no racing driver but am competent on track. I'm sure with more tuition we can all find a few more tenths or 1/100's but it's not all about that. At the moment i'm enjoying building the car up...

Accident damage to 57 plate clio campus sport

Why don't you go to a bodyshop mate just to get a quote? Bumpers and panels can be repaired and don't always need replacing. May be more expensive, but you might have colour match problems on certain colours if you just replace panels/bumpers from a breakers. Black is usually ok but light...

Kelv, you've done the headlights aswell which I debated, but not sure if this will cause problems for track days so I've put that on hold for the minute. Have you ever had problems on trackdays due to having no headlights? I suppose the only further weight from the front now could only come...

I may well do, I don't know enough about polycarb windscreens yet. What is it you don't like about them? I know perspex breaks into dangerous shards, does polycarbonate also break in a dangerous way?

Nick, you're right about the corner weighting, this will be done when the cars all back together. I know it will obviously sort the handling a lot but surely its ideal to get the weight balance as best as possible, and then getting it corner weighted and set up properly?

Polycarbonate is supposed to be very strong, could also add a special film (similar to security film for glass windows) as another measure of protection. I'm sure NASCAR racers use polycarb windscreens. Suppose I better do a bit of research about about the safety implications of polycarb...

So far i've removed/moved/fitted from the front - - Sound deadening on the bulkhead has gone - Air con removed with cup alternator set-up (including air con rad/pipes etc) - Removed the weight thing that I presume is some sort of vibration 'damper' near drivers side engine mount - Carbon...

It's getting boring reading the past threads with the same mongs commenting about losing weight/taking a dump on this thread. If I lose 5kg in weight from the car it's permanent. The car will be 5kg lighter whether I weigh 10 stone or 17 stone. There are so many variables with peoples...
