Well I tried google and not a lot comes up really.
PM 'Yanoo' on here, (he designs them as far as I'm aware) and he will send you loads of stuff. Helpful guy.
There are various different kits you can get, all uprated and metal rather than rubber/plastic. I've gone standard shifter but uprated...
Just ordered the full stiff shift kit 3.0 with every extra balljoint, etc that you can get as a kit.
Might take this to my mechanic as I have a feeling it will be a pain in the arse.
Anyone fitted one themselves that can tell me roughly whats involved, and how long it took them, I can weigh...
All due respect to the guy, but I can only presume he has exaggerrated to give the impression that everything takes a really long time and justify the cost. The thread is basically an advertisement.
I doubt even a Maserati badge brand new costs enough to warrant spending 3 hours labour on it...
I don't know a bodyshop that keeps them on. (The model name or trim badges on back and sides)
Admittedly I only know 2 professional painters. But still.
Gally, what do you think of his finished shots? I don't think he has showed off the end result very well.
I would guess that work was between £1,000-£1,500.
But then I don't see what else you could possibly do in addition to that thread, and with some details apparently costing 5k it's hard to say.
There's a line between detail and time wasting IMO.
Spending 3 hours cutting out the double sided adhesive is just a waste of time. This is all IMO of course. The customer was spending the money so happy days for the detailer.
Both bodyshops I know will remove badges wherever possible, and...
SRP is very very light cut so it will more clean and shine the headlight rather than actually 'refining' the plastic
Would be better off using something more aggressive, preferably a cutting compound, but if you haven't got any use t-cut or SRP, it will at least improve it a little for the time...
I understand all the photo's, and I also think it's an excellent write-up. The whole point of making a thread is to show off all the work that went into it.
Also I think it's excellent work, I completely agree that the guy must be one of the best in the business. Don't take what I said the...
The guy clearly knows what he's doing being a painter, and clearly takes it very seriously (a bit too seriously)
There were a few bits that IMO was unneccessary such as taking door handles etc off and spending 3 hours trimming the adhesive behind the badges.
But fair play thats as detailed...
He's asking how to maintain his paintwork now that its looking good.
Therefore, after 6 months or so, the paint will have picked up enough crap to warrant the use of a claybar.
After a few months the car would appreciate a polish and wax, or just a topping up of wax.
You suggest he buys a...
Iron-x is a spray to remove metal contamination in the paint, I wouldn't worry about products like that if you are on a budget. Your money would be better spent elsewhere, for example a clay bar would be a better buy for you IMO.
Dodo Juice is a brand of products, like Meguiars, Autoglym etc...
Now its been corrected mate all you need to do is keep on top of it as it will slowly get tar, swirl marks, and bits of s**t in the paint over time.
All I would do now is clean it every week or so, and every month or 2 give it a polish and wax. Every 3-6 months you could maybe go over it with...
So I want to clean the front seatbelts on my 182, can anyone recommend something decent to clean them?
Was just going to go out and buy something like an autoglym interior cleaner and use my meguiars brush, but i'm not confident that will do much - they're filthy!
Was thinking of taking the...
So its clear that their rollers are generous, but what about the before and after figures?
174 bhp before, 190 bhp after, thats a 16bhp increase on the same rollers right? Generous rollers or not, thats still quite an increase right?
Or am I missing something....?
I don't think many people are really going to have much experience with this tbh mate.
All I would guess is that its similar to the perforated plasterboard with the holes in that you get in the ceilings of apartments or offices that absorb sound.
Maybe it helps it sound less 'boomy' or...
Have been reading up on tightening up the gear shift on my clio, it feels pretty good but I would like it to feel a bit stiffer, like a bit more resistance to changing gear.
Have seen the Yanoo stiff shift kits, which seem like a pretty good thing, anyones experience with these would be good to...
Yeah I wondered what plugs I would pull out after all the info about how fussy Clio's are with spark plugs, didn't want to be dissapointed as the previous owner insisted he pampered the car and bought all the correct recommended parts for it etc.
I pulled out 4 NGK R's so that was promising at...
Ok guys, took half day at work today as I really wanted to get it running before saturday, as it is booked in for a major service and really want to get it all running sweet ASAP!
Had my injector delivered yesterday. Started by testing which cylinder wasn't firing properly by pulling the...
That doesn't mean he's not a good mechanic, there's not many people I trust with my cars! I won't bore you with why I know he's up there among the best.
I just like to provide oil that is recommended by owners, and as the spark plugs are available cheaper here I would rather provide my own and...
I need a set of these too!
Does anyone on here sell top quality oil and ignition leads for a discount too? Want to give it all to my mechanic so I know exactly whats going in my car!
Ok thanks for all the information guys.
Considering you can only go by what i've described here and can't see the car i'd say you've narrowed it down for me pretty well.
I'll also make sure not to drive it and cause more damage!
One last thing. If it does turn out to be plugs, leads, or coil...
Thanks, appreciate the replies.
I did jetwash the engine bay last sunday, did wonder if it might be related to that, but it was fine during the week until Friday.
Will be looking at it again tomorrow morning, noticed a sulphur-like smell coming from the exhaust earlier when I started it...
Thanks mate, have been reading up about it, was thinking an injector also. Only thing is I can smell petrol whilst driving, is that a symptom of faulty injector?
also, the fact there are pops in the exhaust makes me think unburnt fuel is getting into the exhaust which would mean faulty ignition...
