That is crazy! Ive run into the same problem here. My local dealer hasnt a clue and RenaultSport in Dieppe seem to be a bit slow in responding to emails or even a bank cheque.
Not sure that I really want to deal with a company that seems so unorganised. If I ever get the catalogues which...
Some crazy cow did the same thing to the bird yesterday. In the school carpark. Just glad the kids were still strapped in and not climbing out at the time. Right into the rear door.
You would be surprised to find out just how much of your car is sourced elsewhere. Renault, and every other manufacturer uses bits from many different suppliers to make any of their cars.
Same would naturally be true of the seats, roll cages and other bits that are supposed to be options on...
Well guys and girls, I sent Alpine/RenaultSport in Dieppe a bank draft on or about 10 April for two full motorsport catalogues, one for the Willy which I still had at the time, and one for the Ragnotti which I subsequently ordered. Naturally enough, no catalogue has arrived 5 weeks later! Id...
I grew up with the muscle cars and never owned one. Just couldnt see the fun in the quarter mile. I always was a road race/rally fanantic and owned some decent machinery over the years. I have raced in some professional series and rallied as well. I enjoy machinery that is light and handles...
CB1A,
The Porsches would wipe the floor with the Vettes and Vipers if they had large engines. Did you ever hear of the 917? Back in the early 70s it was getting over 1200hp in a road racing car. No Vette or Viper now would come close to it. Imagine what it would be like with 30 years...
Whenever I get a chance, I jump on a Dozer, JCB, excavator, lorry or whatever. They are all great fun and take a lot of concentration to operate, especially when you dont do it everyday. I guess I never grew up.
Snow ploughing is good for a change as well.
You want a real challenge, try a...
Well yesterday I drove a 1.4 Focus. Did 19 laps. Could have done with a few more ponies, but it was good on the downhill bits. Very tossable due to the Conti Eco Contact tyres. I do hope they make it another 20 laps or so. I dont want to buy Hertz a new set!
If you guys and girls think Renault quality control is a bit sub par, then just have a gander at the Lotus Elise and the Opel/Vauxhall clone. I was in an Elise the other day with about 5000km on the clock. The gearbox was junk, there were oil droplets all over the back, and the gear noise was...
CB1A,
Yeah those big engines can move and the Viper is one of the biggest. It is all about interpreting the rules, and writing the rules to exclude high tech as well. Pushrods went out a long time ago, but live on in the Viper, Corvette and Nascar!
Shelby took on Ferrari, but with a...
I went in to test drive a 172 only to find that one of the salesmen had rolled it into a ball the night before. They even took me into the shop to see it. Waht a mess! The occupants got off lightly with a few bruises and scratches.
CB1A,
Power is only one part of the equation on the track. Brakes, tyres, suspension, gearing, handling and driver skill count for more. All have to be balanced. A car that would smoke you in the quarter, especially of the Yank tank variety, wouldnt get past the first corner never mind a...
The quarter mile is a terrible waste of the V6s talent. Have you had it on the track at all? Much easier on the clutch and gearbox, and you get to play with other things like the steering and brakes.
To each his own. The V6 is a decent car that in my opinion really isnt crying out for a silver bottle and big sticker to improve either its looks or performance.
What sort of horsepower increase and for how long is it sustained with that setup?
Any dealer is going to look after their own customers first. Im sure that if you had bought the car there in the first place, they would be a bit more accommodating. Doesnt help you any though.
Hopefully you saved a bundle on the original purchse price.
What gives with these gearboxes?
And youd want really good ICE for a long drive like that...
Im amazed at how few Clios are in the race considering the size of the field and have already made enquiries to Renault about getting a car together for next year.
It looks like there are 7 teams with Clios entered for the 24 hour. At least one diesel.

Maybe Cliosport should enter one next year...
