NOT IMPRESSED!!!!!

MY 02 reg 172 broke down AGAIN last night and Renault cant even see it untill 22nd May....... depending on what the issue is, (either Driveshaft, gearbox, bearing or suspension) i might not be able to make the southend meet. I have allready had one gearbox since new. The car is only 14 months old and done 9000 miles..... GUTTED. and before you say it it is not my driving.

i bought it in November 2002 - not knowing that it was an import(although first registered in the UK). IF your 172 does not come with an alarm or locking wheel nuts it is an IMPORT so beware as a 3 year UK renault warrenty is V expensive.

To top it all off Renault or the AA can not offer me a courtesy car.. so i am well and truly .... screwed.......

Need sympathy from all you 172 drivers..... i am now going to sell it and maybe buy a cup......

sorry to hear that m8! cant u take it to another garage and see wots up? might jus be something small!

wot exactly is wrong wit it? engine problems?

Felt like a flat front right tyre......

When the cluth is in no juddering, but as you excelerate there is little power and need to change gear as the juddering is worse...... i had to cruise along the hard shoulder of the M25 last night doing 15 miles an hours with my hazards on...... as the title states.... NOT IMPRESSED.

when u accelerated did it jus rev and move about 10mph in first, 30mph in second? coz then it would av a clutch or gearbox problem!

cant u go to a local garage and get them to change it or does the warranty only allow renault to do that?

wheres the car now?

Renault made you pay for a warrenty? You get 3 years now on all EU imports. Renault may make it a little harder than if it was a UK purchase, but its still available for free.

Sorry to hear about that car. Ive read so many horror stories on here that if mine starts showing signs of becoming a troubled car its going.

The car is at my girlfiends house in Romford.....

No the dealer i bought it from coughed up for the warrenty but still, i was not impressed to find out it was an import.........

The warrently only covers Reanult approved dealerships to look at the car.....

My advice is if something goes wrong........ SELL IT.. dont get me wrong i love my car but this just takes the cream off it... what is the point in having a fast car if the bl88dy thing dont move.......

Any dealer is going to look after their own customers first. Im sure that if you had bought the car there in the first place, they would be a bit more accommodating. Doesnt help you any though.

Hopefully you saved a bundle on the original purchse price.

What gives with these gearboxes?

No, he didnt have to pay a penny for it, it is free for eu imports. Bought my imported car (also reg. as new in uk) in Dec 02 and got full 3 year warrenty from Renault UK. And have had no probs getting a Renault dealer to do warrenty work.

Bad luck, seems u got a dud, mines about the same age and has only had minimal problems...I agree thou I would get rid of mine if it kept on braking down.....

and if they didnt tell you it was imported did they make you pay full price or what??? Could be a case of a straight forward return/refund???
