i dont have cruise control - was just one of the first things that popped into my head that can be kept with the Gen90. sorry for the confusion.
And id go for an RS2 but that IS overpriced and not as good as ITB's, im a fan of flat torque lines - after all ive fitted a 5.8 V8 to my 200sx track...
didnt mean to come across as defensive - just in the same predicament in that i have ITB's and shopping for an ecu so doing lotsd of research and all ive read on here whilst searching is KTec bashing by the same group of people and it gets old.
some things arent as good and/or are overpriced...
its only a premium if its significantly more expensive than competition thats even remotely close as a product :)
£400 more than an adaptronic which doesnt even have ignition drivers in it is not a lot more to spend for SO much more of a product.
You dont pay a 'premium' for it at all.
Name another ECU, with as much functionality as this (maintains all the standard computer functions ie cruise control, mpg calculator etc) that comes with a base map thats spec specific, and that can be fitted as easily by anyone with no real wiring...
unless you take it to someone who can map ktec stuff :)
or get a canems fitted here - seems quite cheap tbh and Dan is really good with clios.
Ill be getting a canems on mine by Dan when i come to fit the ITB's i have.

Its is starting to become his old car - but it was ace so whos complaining :D
cheers dude! things are moving quicker than the mrs would like but i just cant help myself :D
Had my first trackday in 4 years today at Blyton, and god ive missed it!!
Day started off dry and then it rained quiter heavily and i ended up locking up the brakes a couple of times and then had a HUGE spin on the fast chicane, luckily no damage and after a chill out in the car park it was...
I won't be getting an ecu which lights the dash up like a Xmas tree. Backing plate was included with the itbs.
Like I said, doing things cheaply doesnt mean bodged and not as good, just gotta have a bit of common sense and keep an ear to the ground ;)
My jenveys were £630. All I need is a tps, filter and ecu. All in it will be cheaper than an rs2.
Things can be done cheaply without bodging. Fraum what I've seen trawling the forum the RS2 isn't all that great.
Hi all,
Bought myself a Monaco 172 recently after finally giving in to Dan@519's constant 'buy a Clio they're awesome' comments whenever i was looking for a new fun car.
Its an 02 plate which had blown a head gasket and had a 67k engine fitted with new cam belt done by Owen:s on here and a new...
haha! theyre safely tucked away whilst i sort an ECU ;) though now theres talk of a forged bottom end and some wild cams, but the other half thinks i should save for the wedding first :argue:
The beast is progressing slowly, went to ten of the best at the weekend and just upset myself at not...
Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco
I see two sets of aero catches in the pics, are one set available with the Monaco blue bonnet they're fitted to? I need some as my bonnet is dented to buggery where a gorilla tried to shut it. Can px mine so the shell still has a bonnet, and a slam panel ;)
Engine was supplied by Owen:s on here with the belt done immediately prior to sale so I suspect that's when they were re used.
Ill order a pair of the eBay ones as they can't be worse than the current state.
90% sure....
Rear one isn't in properly and covered in oil with a trail from it, breather plate isnt sealed amazingly but can't find a leak on it big enough
Tried a search but not having much luck :(
My cam end seal is leaking (gearbox side of the engine) and chucking oil out over my exhaust manifold.
Really need to sort it before in on track on 31st of july, so whats the best way? Ive read that the rocker cover holds the cams in so taking that...
Re: dmallett's 421'd monaco
Ah, Ive just bought some ITB's and knowing how mental Dans monaco was on ITB's and 421's........ ;) lol
never mind - will have to stick to plan A of getting dan to fit cams to my existing lump
I spent a long time at Dans drooling over this, fantastic build, fantastic power and a true inspiration!!
Its not helping the slippery slope I'm on with my Clio.....
bought mine recently for £800 and have already spent £1k on it in bits
