Getting back to the Evo, mine did 60-100 in 6.8 seconds, which was pretty quick really.
Over a varied route, especially in pouring rain, I dont think there have been many cars mass produced ever that are faster.
Awesome. Awesome fuel consumpton, service, tyres, and ride quality as well...
Well about three weeks ago Auto Express compared the Cup with the Cooper S, and declared the Cup the clear winner.
This week they have done the same comparison, and guess what, the Cooper S is now the better car.
Strange.
Ive been interested in the 172 for a couple of years now, but I am really "into" spartan cars, for some reason, so that when Renault announced the Cup, I liked what I saw, and ordered one, knowing full well that I could buy a import 172 for less than what I pay for the Cup.
I simply prefer...

172Cup, what MY is your scooby? Mines on Paul Strongs Dyno site, came out 245bhp on the rollers at Power Engineering, with a Scoobysport rear box and Ramair filter. Bloody awesome in the wet, it was.
I wasnt so taken by the new scooby, too heavy and not as explosive, so Ive sort of gone off...

Geoff, your mates name isnt Dave perchance?
The STi is a handful compared to the UK scoob, with more rear wheel bias, especially if you play about with the diff. But then again, I think the P1 doesnt have the adjustable centre diff?
Nice cars though, cant fault them.

Yep, I have heard a lot of good things about Magnex. According to a large exhaust test Max Powe ran a few years ago, they were very high quality, and relatively quiet.
I had a cat replacement Mongoose on my EVO 6, and gained 17 bhp on the RR. But that is a different car, with a big blower on...

Well I have to disagree. I think Scorpion systems absolutely suck. Good for power gains, maybe, but a loud, droning, booming noise in the cabin aint my sort of thing...
Had one on my 19 16v, made a big difference to performance with the K&N, but bloody unpleasantly noisy on long runs.

13.5 seconds sounds astonishing for a CTR. My well run in ITR, which ran 194 bhp on Power Engineerings RR, did 16.2 to 100, and 6.7 to 60, with the AP22.
For those of you who quote magazine figures, remember that the UK magazines test their cars with two people on board and half a tank of...

ChavyBoy, is this a Type-R eater? Well find out when I get mine in a months time. I did loads of AP22 tests on my Integra, which incidentally was very well run in and looked after, so we shall see...
Ill keep you posted!

I seem to remember Performance Car doing a similar test on a Golf a few years back, where they concluded that the original configuration was best, and the bigger wheels came out worst.
When I had the Integra Type-R, I was( as usual ) tempted to buy a nice set of 17s, but was strongly...

Basically it sounds as if the Cup is a slightly more focussed, sharper, faster, more dynamic tool than the standard 172. That is exactly what I am looking for. I have no interest in the "creature comforts" that others are so attached to-not in this particular car. It sounds as if it is simply a...

1. People driving too fast in built up areas.
2. People driving too fast for the conditions.
3. People not keeping their distance.
4. People driving around roundabouts in the outer lane without indication.
5. People who otherwise have no respect for other road users.
