problem has been found. its a loose live, but its not the starter motor live, its too thin for that, its a thin red wire that runs over the starter motor
ITS ON! it is no slouch at all and is chipped and had throttle work moving it from 190bhp to 205bhp proved on a RR. this thing does 0-60 in 6.4 as standard BUT sitting in it it doesnt feel very fast so who knows?!?! i reckon i will have him or at least be with him til around 60 then bye-bye clio!
SAME problem as me, car has been fine since i have had the transplant, took it out for a caning tonight, came back to it and it wouldnt start. push started it and it was fine all the way home. stopped it and started it a million times and it seems to have solveeed itself?!? let me know what the...
well i have had my licence for 2 hours and 45 minutes and the williams has already f**ked up. i let her warm up for ages, drove her slowly for 10ish miles so i made sure that everything was ok(its been sat for 2 weeks with the williams engine, only to be taken for blasts every couple of days)...
:D cheers mate! i will be out on thursday so i can take you for a spin then if your out? plus there is a BIG cruise on monday, you coming? you should, convoy details are in the meetings&events section under N/W meet
ok thats just made sense now, the engine just looks like someone has given it a good clean rather then a done up engine like adis with the colour coding and silicone hoses
cheers 172MAN, pics look sweet, the flushed tailgate looks good
Mikey, i am thinking about having williams badges like the willy had except in silver but in exactly the same place, what you reckon? need to know if there are any badges that are heat resistent, but wont be getting my engine out...
172man that pic is sweet, can you make my wheels white?
mike, how would i get a williams logo on my rocker cover without it melting? far too much hassle me thinks
sandpaper on the inlet manifold works a treat! i got the engine from Adis old valver/willy, the guy who fitted it said he would fit it for free if he got to keep my old engine cos of the mileage(28k). it went in fine, the transplant took about 5 hours, they know what they are doin!
still not...
they are 16" OZ super Ts but the car is dropped heavily on coilovers, about 70 rear and 55-60 front. engine bay still looks nowhere near as clean as i would like but its getting there, just got the degreaser out and some sandpaper
cheers lads, engine is in and SWEET as, not been able to drive it yet though:@. its going in for a bonnet and front bumper re-spray as the winter use has taken its toll. not sure wether to keep it standard or get it debadged and smooth and mesh the front bumper? any ideas. fancy getting it...
lol@jillyB, yeah the change in performance did shock me, its weird not having to screw the butt off it to make it go fast! need to get it on the rollers and 1/4 miled cos it feels sooo much faster then my 1800 and that was no slouch
erm my RT would do an indicated 120 easy! thats with induction kit and straight through full system! i bet you dont have the standard wheels on and therefore struggle for top end speed. the P2 RTs had power steering so 5 BHP was lost there i believe, i had a P1 RT, my mate a P2, i had 17s he had...
PS, forgot to mention, we overtook an E46 328 and he did NOT like it, he flashed and stuck to my bumper and when we got to the next set of lights just before a sharp left hander............................bye-bye BMW!
you shouldnt get in any trouble because it is very hard for them to do on the spot emmision tests(the only thing they can do you for).
BRUN, the williams de-cat is different, i had my 16v de-cat chopped up to accomodate williams manifold and down pipe
let my mate take my williams powered 16v out today for its daily thrashing and this car just keeps a smile on my face, with my 1800 the kick at 4500rpm was not so much a kick as a push, in the williams its like a 5 ton hammer to your chest! its like a bleedin turbo! so very very impressed with...
my most shocking race was with a fiat coupe 20v turbo, managed to keep side by side with him til around 50 and on his bumper til 70. bare in mind this is a car that does the 1/4 mile in 14.6 as standard, but it also has 220bhp through the front wheels and loves to spin them through to 3rd gear!
you should cane him andy! got my williams engine in now by the way and its a bit fookin special! will have to take you out in it when i get my license back!!
i have raced a few of these 220 GTis and you should bully him
SO wanted to go! was even considering let my mate take my car down for me then swapping drivers at the last minute! still, not long til i get my license back(a week!). Craggy, i owe you an apology, your VTS would quite obviously murder my 1800 no matter what start i got! a 14.9 is a bit fukin...
here we go.......there was a massive post about this not long ago, when you back off throttle at high revs the car still puts air and fuel throught the block but doesnt burn it and when it reaches the hot exhaust BANG! i think
makes a whole load of noise on an RT, wathc out for flames as well! it will feel like it has made a big difference to performance also. i loved my RT because of it breathing mods, it sounded mental! cane 2nd gear and when the revs are high come off throttle then gently tap it and listen to the...
mine did this, the gearbox gave way soon after. try caning it in second then backing off and then on the power again, the selector fork or sync mesh is at fault. new box time me thinks! although, i chnged my bottom engine mount and fitted a new gear linkage and this cured it for a while...
