Yeah, but with a hell of a lot more differences than the 182 or Cup has over a 172.
The 182 is a revision, an update of the 172.
My main point is that the 182 has to meet the cream of the established hot hatches before being called the best. That doesnt necessarily mean an article in a...
Question is, will they test it against the cream of the hot hatches in about 10 years time and still call it the "Best Hot Hatch Ever"? - as they did with the Williams.
That was one article without direct comparison and while Im sure the 182 will be an excellent hot hatch, it wont move the...
Hiya Wongy :D
I sold the 16V because I started a job (finally!) after my Masters and was able to get something "special" because Ive now got the use of another car and commute by bike and train a lot too. I almost did the 2.0 conversion on the Valver and had even booked it to be fitted - but...
Whoa! Posts from Nick Read and Wongy! Blast from the past!
The 449 Sports Blue is funny as it looks dull in the shade, but really purpley in the light. This is my car from two angles in the same location at the same time! Ones in the sun, the others not!
Light...
I was talking about the differences between the Megane F7R and Willy F7R! Just I think that some of the differences between the F7P and Willy F7R didnt make it onto the Megane F7R! :D
I got the info about the polished inlet parts etc from the 1993 CCC feature on the Willy. Lots of detail there!
No - there was a 146 Cloverleaf, which had a 2.0 150bhp lump. But it was Group 14 insurance, so cant see it being cheaper than a Valver. Slightly less pace than a Valver too, due to the weight.
Would love an Alfa 147 GTA, Clio V6 or Lancia Delta Integrale Evoluzione II myself.
The original Williams lump was a low-volume parts bin special and Im sure that some of the special features wouldnt have made onto the mass produced F7R engine of the Megane simply because of the expense of mass producing them.
Most of the bits specific to the Willy F7R disappeared on the...
No. Youve got in the high 170s to start (thats if youre lucky knowing the 172 engine - not like the Valvers and Willys!) and a poor filter choice will actually rob you of power!
Excellent. 16Vs/Willys are a bit of a pain sometimes and can cost a lot to run, but theyre worth every penny. If youre local to Weston/Bristol Id suggest you call into Renatec for a checkover. Try Hillpower, BB Tuning or Infinicar otherwise.
I used to live in Bristol but even though Ive...
I found a buyer for my old 16V on here. Depends on the car really - most people want a dealer warranty if theyre looking at a £5k+ purchase, so classified buys have to have a real price advantage.
Id imagine a Phase2 172 like yours would be for sale at £8.5k+, which will attract a lot of...
Was going to try Muc-Off on my wheels as it works so well on my bike.
Its made by a bike company called X-Lite, although I think its now being marketed just under the Muc-Off brand as a general cleaner.
Is that first green graph line showing just shy of 130bhp at the wheels?
If thats the case, then my old tuned 16V was making 128 at the wheels, which certainly wasnt 180bhp at the fly! More like 155bhp if thats the case!
Sounds like another excellent hot hatch from Renault.
Id really like to see a head-to-head feature with the Williams (like they did with the 172 etc), since the Willy is the only ghost the new 182 will need to lay to rest.
Sounds like my disc rear brake callipers are binding.
Last time this happened on my Valver, I needed two new ones at a high £££ cost! Is there any way of repairing them?
Cheers
As good as it may be, I doubt the 182 move the game on in the way that the Williams did. But its not meant to - its an evolution of a very good hot hatch (although not a back to the drawing board revamp like the Willy). I doubt the 182 will be clearly the best of its day in the way the Willy...
Thats very kind mate and I may take you up on the offer if I can find somewhere thatll fit the tyres! Everywhere Ive been to insists on fitting their own supplied tyres.
