Got 230 miles once! That was ragging it for three days solid on the roads around my home!!
Thats about 20mpg! Still not that bad: my dads 3.0 straight-six auto Volvo gets 10mpg around town!
Yeah - could be ball joints. But movement like that could also be the thrust washer in the diff or a wheel bearing. If the car hesitates on turn in, it could also be the steering rack.
Eric: if you think the VTS/106 come on cam late, try a Clio 16v - it is the classic 16v power delivery engined car!
Clean 16v: mate, its more like 40mph in 1st with a 16v - go find out! Top speed is really about 130mph, although the speedo will be displaying more than that.

The handbook says the combined capacity of the fuel tanks in the 16v is 50 litres. In practice, youll rarely put in more than 43 litres at a time as the fuel gauge measures only the bigger fuel tank - and does not include the capacity in the reserve AFAIK.
I once got 350 miles out of my 16v...
Be careful with cheap paint places. I learnt my lesson the hard way.
This time last year, I paid £340 to have the bonnet, front bumper, roof, o/s rear panel and bonnet vent painted and a patch of rust at the door pillar removed. Best price by miles - and it looked A1 when it left the...
The Mk3 VR6 is a quick machine in a straight line, but its still FWD and has a very heavy nose - so is ultimately flawed.
The modern line-up of "sporty" Golfs are cruisers, not back road battlers.

If you do the wheels up by hand, or get the garage to do so, with a torque wrench then it should be fine. Get a good quality bit and longish wrench and it should be fine. Im always taking my wheels off to inspect the tyres and clean the brake callipers.
Oh, and forget about locking wheels...
There are big holes in my knowledge, but AFAIK Stage 1 wont really do much on a Clio 16v in terms of outright accleration.
Because of the small, hot, engine bay induction kits do little except add a really meaty noise (probably the best on a production hatch); similarly with the exhaust I...

If you choose to race a 106 GTi/VTS in 1st and 2nd, then it will be very close. But if its in mid range, at higher speeds, overtaking etc, then a 16v will be quicker.

I think this is the time for some proper tried and tested tactics. Ben steps into "Evil Ben" suit. Right:
Find out where the blighter lives. Get the steet address and house number - thats all you need. Go to the Royal Mail site and find out the postcode; not essential, but helps. Dont...
