    new keys needed

Jamie, it's expensive believe me. Brun is correct in what he says, the only way if you haven't got a spare at all is via Renault. Second hand keys cannot be reprogrammed.

    Foglights on an expression?

New stalk needed and the wiring loom possibly. You need to have a look behind the bumper to see if the fog feeds are there already.

    Electrical/lighting problems

It's an earthing issue I'm fairly certain. Take out both rear clustes and have a look for the negative connection behind them, it will be bolted to the framework of the car, possibly just inside the boot (I can't remember off the top of my head.) If this connection is loose, rusty or corroded...

Do randoms approach you in petrol stations?

I've had it a couple of times. It's usually from young scrote's and the like, from whom you don't want any attention at all!

    Electrical/lighting problems

Sounds like an earthing issue, check the main earth connection behind the rear cluster(s).

    UCH and ECU

I think the UCH is paired to the ECU as they come blank new. I also think that this is a one-time pairing and it cannot then be moved to another ECU. As for what's needed, no idea sorry!

    Fog lights

No, the spec level of your car will dictate how easy/difficult it is. Some are pre wired and just need the bits fitting, others have nothing and need the complete sytem.

    Fog lights

I did it years ago - very simple bar the dash really which was a little more 'involved'. Still easy though.

    Phone sockets around the house

The master socket will generally have BT on it and be closest to the point of entry for the line. If you really can't tell take the fronts off and have a look.

    automatic headlights

To do away with auto wipers, I believe you can fita wiper stalk from a non-auto equipped car - thus disabling the function. I haven't tried it though so no guarantees!

    Glove box hinge.....

Well as far as I know the glove box is part of the lower dash and as such can not easily be replaced, even the door isn't removable. Have you checked your catch isn't strained for it to be sagging so much?

    Glove box hinge.....

That is pretty bad to be honest!

    Glove box hinge.....

Yours must be bad then. All glove boxes I have seen have sagged as does mine, but it's nowhere near enough to make the light come on. You sure your switch is workng?

Strange really as AF were close to who I'm with but not close enough to warrant switching last renewal. :S

Can you fit a 17" tyre into the boot well?

So you're buying a 17" rim to keep as a spare in the boot?

Can you fit a 17" tyre into the boot well?

It'll be tight but I'd say yes depending on the profile!
