Glove box hinge.....

  Meg R26 + Mk4 GTTDI
Any way of fixing this so that it doesnt 'sag' down at one side? The light is on when I turn my headlights on and its always in the corner of my eye. Only a small thing but it does annoy me. Just like the squeak in the dash which I cant find:(

Did a search but nearly everything i looked at was to do with Head units and iPods etc etc

Thanks, Steven

I was considering that. Or taping the wee microswitch in but the light is handy to have when your looking for something in the glovebox at night.

Oh must be a common problem then? Common problems usually have some sort of fix? Well heres hoping

Edit: The glove box door? It sags at the right where the switch is so its constantly on when my headlights are on. A small annoyance when driving at night

my lights off, but glove box flap is on the piss, cant see a way to straighten it either, looks bit gash compared to rest of the interior.

Yours must be bad then. All glove boxes I have seen have sagged as does mine, but it's nowhere near enough to make the light come on.

You sure your switch is workng?

Well as far as I know the glove box is part of the lower dash and as such can not easily be replaced, even the door isn't removable.

Have you checked your catch isn't strained for it to be sagging so much?

The glove box is practically empty so theres nothing pushing on the door to put strain on it. I'll check the catch later on and see.

Ha Ha!
Had exactly the same thing, prob just as bad as in the picture.
Thing to do is, drill out the 4 rivets that hold the glove box to the lower dash.
Then simply, position the glove box as you want it to sit and re-attach it with some self tappers.
Because im such a perfectionist i then painted the screw heads black so you no one would ever notice.
If your light is still on, find a tiny rubber sticker thing that will push against the switch when the glove box is closed.

Lol!
It wasnt that hard tbh. ill try and get some pics showing where the screws are and the little nipple thing that pushes against the button

Sounds good. A guide for the guides section wouldnt go a miss as it seems to be a more common problem than I first thought
