you mite be lucky and get renualt to pay a % towards it. They will try the wear and tear excuse.

I bought a second hand 172 (mk1) in January 03 and it was written off July 03. I had around £6k left on finance to pay. i managed to get a good payout from the insurance for £9k. So i didnt actualy need it in the end. But for piece of mind Ive got it on my new mk2 172. not sure how much I paid...

you should be able go get an agreed value insurance. They will ask for a list of every mod and a couple of photos of the exterior and interior.

mine was changed in october. (When they finally got the right one!!) they had the car for about 5 hrs as there had to sort a scratch and other minor warrenty work out.

Use engine paint. cheaper than proper caliper paint. small tin costs around £5 and will last ages. Clean the loose rust off first.

i know people who work for flux and they dont have insurance with them and wouldnt !! now what does that tell you ??
