Ah, I appreciate the offer but that's a little more ££ than I can justify on a light tbh.
I've rescued the lense on mine, although the LEDs are fried. I'll put a new LED strip in there which has worked for a few people from what I've read 😁
They're rarer than hens teeth!
Definitely not manufactured anymore by Renault. I spent most of the day phoning various Renault dealers, specialists and Renault Clio breakers......not a sausage, no new old stock, no second hand ones nada!
On a plus note I've got my brake light out, and can...
I'm trying to find a brake light for a 172/182 Cup Spoiler.
Bought a Cup spoiler recently and just got round to testing the brake light, which is dead as dodo.
I know you can retrofit LED strips into the existing lense, but I don't think the brake light is going to come out in one piece (I've...
The afr's aren't on the limit, so I'd like to say there's wiggle room for running a little leaner if that's what the decat would do without a map, but I'm far from an expert in these things!
As you say, I'll see what EFI say.
I got offered a decat for a very reasonable price, though I may opt...
I appreciate putting the cat back on for MOT time is always gonna be a ball ache but hoping putting the decat on will free her up a bit.
Ive emailed Chris at EFI but being the holiday period, I've yet to receive a response!
I've done some reading on here but nothing specific to a boosted 172 that I can see.
Question:
My 172 Turbo was mapped at EFI with standard cat in place.
Would it benefit from a decat as it stands?
When I removed my engine, both shafts came out.
You might be able to leave them in place, but it's so tight for room in the engine bay, I removed as much as I could to make life easier......was still a ball ache though!
Mines out again in the new year to fix the leaking selector seal and put...
That's pretty much my thoughts.
The Clio is like a mad jack Russell, certainly quick and handles well.
To my mind though, the Mégane RS 250/265/275 have a decade of handling advancements in them which would (should) allow them to handle power better.....if that makes sense.
Currently though...
I've recently turbo'd my Clio 172 which made 240.4hp on EFIs rollers. It's hilarious fun giving serious consideration to letting it go later next year in favour of a Mégane 250/265, based purely on having a more modern car.
Any thoughts?
Totally agree with this 👍
I could have given my car to ED and had a boosted Clio a week later, but half the fun was doing it myself....though likewise, I sometimes questioned my sanity lol.
I'm more than happy with mine at 240bhp and would imagine an extra 60 ponies would make it hilariously...
Steve, did you get your cars map tweaked?
First pull on EFIs Dyno on their off the shelf flash made 211hp on mine. Chris 'found" a further 29hp and sorted the bad idlle which turned out to be a duff injector. Defo worth doing.
I've used a LUK clutch and it's barely run in...I think I've done around 1200 miles on the conversation and the new clutch was installed prior to bolting the engine back in.
It's on the limit and will occasionally slip especially in colder weather where the boost comes in harder and makes a...
Does anyone have a part number for these?
I'm running Meggy injectors in my 172 turbo conversion, but the Clio clips hold them at the wrong angle so it has to be the Mégane clips, but trying to find them (or a part number) is like trying to find hens teeth 😏
Any help is mucho appreciated?
Cheers dude.....I'll have a look at those.
My car was going very well in the cold last night but then would slip and grip a few times at peak boost, before settling down
Just finished my turbo conversion.
Fitted an OE Sachs clutch, and it's slipping already, so I'm on the hunt fore something that'll take the 240hp mine is making now.
Oh and definitely worth the effort to convert.......it's hilarious to drive now!
Hi all,
So my Clio 172 turbo was recently finished and after a remap at EFI made 240.4bhp and 233ft/lb.
I fitted a brand new OE spec (Sachs I think) clutch but have noticed it slipping a few times under heavy acceleration/boost.
Any thoughts on what clutch would work best at this power level...
I also sprayed the intake maninwhike I was at it too. Looks good on the red rocker i think.
Cleaned up the mani with some acetate, then warmed it up a bit with a heat gun before putting a couple of coats of Hammerite matt black.
Quite happy with the results.
I removed the current engine so I could get busy fitting the nimbus heat shielding. Word of warning....that stuff is sharp. I managed to slice my finger which I guess is my bad for not wearing gloves lol
The actuator that came with the turbo was way to high. I replaced it with an adjustable Kinugawa actuator with a "0.5 bar" spring.....more on that later 😏
After a chat with SteveC_1879 who was on a similar build, I bought some oil feed lines and various fittings from the FleaBay. Water feed and...
