Well Pod is a long way for me too, hence being a York regular...
I know the times we get (York & Crail) are slightly quicker than at Pod, and you cant really compare times done at different venues.
Got 14.5secs @ 93mph in my Cup at York, with a Viper and 3500 miles on the clock that time...
All 3 places use the same timing gear actually, but people always seem to get slightly quicker times at York & Crail...
Pod is however the place to benchmark the times!
Id say well done, but Crail aint got the best reputation for times...
My Cup ran 15.0secs dead at Santa Pod last summer, totally 100% standard, only 1250 miles on the clock, first time Id run it and on a f*cking hot day! :cool:
There was nothing removed from the car, in fact I had a...
It was 2 years old this week, I got it off my mate so know its full history and the only problem its even had was a minor oil leak caused by a dealer fitting an oil filter badly at the first service!
Amazingly reliable and only wish my Cup had been like this or Id still have it...
Yeah, I have the times for 0-30, 0-40, 0-50, etc... so I just looked at the time it took for them to do 90-100.
All those (bar the Cup) were from the April issue of Evo, so same day, same driver, etc... and as comaritive as you can get. The Cup time was from an issue of Evo last year.
LOL
Jons is just a good example... :D
It is most entertaining.
The noises it makes are awesome and I luuurve the VTEC, revs like crazy and that gearbox is superb! :D
Faster than my Cup in a straightline though, and much stronger at speed, but off the mark theres nowt in it.
LOL
Nah, it aint no VTEC and you know it! ;)
My Cup had a good old shove at 5k but my mates mk1 172 is a real change, it comes on really strong but is a bit flat below this, wheras my Cup was really strong low down so more of a noticable change on his.
The VTEC kick on the newer cars...
This is how long it takes certain cars to get from 90-100mph >>>
Cup = 3.8secs
182 = 3.7secs
CTR = 3.5secs
Cooper-S = 4.1secs
206 GTi-180 = 4.1secs
As you can see, it takes longer to cover those last 10mph than most people think!
Yeah, the 106 does lack low down grunt, but is very strong from 5000rpm and really comes on cam strong!
Very different to drive, the power delivery is smooth and theres more low end torque than most people think...
Same driver?! Think youll find they are different.
As for consistant, some are wet laps, others dry!!!
For an accurate comparison you DO need the same driver, on the same track, in the same conditions, so the Top Gear times are useless...
i.e...
Nah, I am impartial...
Had the Cup, got a CTR, but also got an R5 Turbo (had 2 of them) and a 1.4 Clio parked on the drive, so unlikely to be anti-Renault! ;)
Aye, only becuase the car manufacturers are now quoting this...
Makes fook all difference anyway, as 170 vs 172 is not noticable!
p.s mine had 200bhp as standard than! :p
