No need to apply tripple every wash as it will last approx 4 - 6 weeks if not a little more dependant on washing and use.
Why can't you see where you've applied tough coat? I've used it mainly on silver's and after a few minutes it's based so if you've missed any spots you can easily give it...
3rd wash - 11th June - 3 weeks since application
Washed with Lather was nice and easy and smooth, no contaminants left behind. Wings were quite muddy and also greasy from a suspension change this week and all came off in a single pass. washed in the rain and suds were trying bead and sheet off...
5th wash - 11th June
quick update before 2 week holiday
Car was quite muddy but spent a lot of time sitting under trees also. wash down with GWash wasn't the most pleasant, felt quite rough to hand, bug splatter along the front edge came off with a 2nd pass. No sign of contamination sticking...
I'm in Braintree so not far. I don't mind helping people out but dont really do much in the way of paid detailing as I don't enjoy or want the risk. If someone wants a hand or a friends favour then that's different
There have been plenty of starter threads up since the weather changed so look...
if you change the colour it will have to be a flat and bold colour to compliment RB. Nothing dark or metallics. I'll keep a look out as I'm in Braintree
drying towel - i4d uber yellow (when it's in stock) or the CG woolly mammoth
LSP? where to start, what do you want from it / durability / looks / budget / wax or sealant, from reading Russ's previous posts I'd consider Z2 for LY.
wheel cleaner - bilberry or imperial
wheel brush - EZ detail...
I used the hexlogic range for both DA and rotary and pretty happy, but the vast range of pad firmness it can get expensive, as suggested depending on how hard your paint appears to be get a cutting or polishing pad, finishing and glazing pad. They seem to have held up quite well. I tried the 3m...
I've not had good experiences with the plasti kote paints in the past, wouldn't take to well and often reacted with primers. Some will say pay cheap pay twice, but I'm still yet to have trouble with Halfords paints.
surprised to see this thread keep popping up still, thanks for all the feedback and suggestions.
I've since sold my Clio, but my Dad is still running this on his Mk2 RSi and working well
2nd wash - Tuesday 5th June - 2 weeks since application
Washed with lather again, no photo's this time but water behaviour is still just as good as that above. Soul sheeting is maybe half a second behind that of Passion. washing was a pleasure and dead bugs on the front lip of the bonnet came...
1st wash - Friday 25th May - 1 week since application
washed with lather, anyone would think I'm using a more costlier Z wax! Beading and sheeting are both excellent. the bit of rain we've had has been lovely to watch race down the bonnet. washing was easy, no contamination and dried itself...
Right sorry for the lack of updates. No pictures I'm afraid as time has been tight and weather against me.
Car was washed again on;
2nd wash - 19th May
Washed with lather again. beading still nice and tight after initial wash, Carbon taking the edge again on uniform shape and tightness...
I believe autofinesse mercury is a metal polish that is supposed to have a small amount of protection in it. JD and Russ has some / use it reguarly so is best to wait for them
As for sealing it to keep it clean properly, GTechniq C5 is really the only product I would use if I was ha ing that...

Been thinking about giving this a go as I've read some pretty pleasing reviews,
I seem to remember Russ mentioning it. I've been using Menz 85re and 203, works ok with the focus and ok ish on my old clio. I played with...
The blackmax glaze is said to be very good but not tried it myself . Everything in the kit looks sound I was just a bit surprised at the price, maybe consider the non pro version unless your happy with the cost then get ordering and let us know how you get on
Trix is a combination of iron x and tar x so little need for both iron x and trix IMO.
I'm a little unsure on the das6 kit. If you have a wax maybe see if you can get machine, glaze, pads separately and see if it saves you anything. The QD is very good though
Let's go back to basics: what's your wash and prep routine, as this maybe incurring more swirls every time so no matter how much glaze you use you won't get the best from it
You've not done anything wrong mate we all started somewhere. Get a DA and next time you do your car try using the Blackpool glaze with a finishing pad on your machine, hopefully the results will be a little better. Will also give you a.bit more experience in handling the machine before using...
I've not questioned your ability mate. nor your profession, why you feel the need to tell me you run a body shop, umm, I'm not quite sure. I've read that was your profession previously which is why I made reference to it. Still takes nothing away from the skill and knowledge in doing it and...
wet sanding is not something that you can just jump in on! maybe if you're experienced or work in a body shop and have the knowledge of experienced people around you.
look in the detailing sub forum,
the abrasives in the polish will remove any products but you mention nothing about preping the surface to ensure the paintwork is clean before going at it with the polisher. most of the prep should remove the glaze and sealant
Works much better glazing by machine in my experience, with a little less chance of damaging the paint if using a compound. That way he can experience the machine then move onto abrasives. I personally think its a good idea doing it that way and would recommend it
I got the tailpipes and system into the position I wanted and bent the hanges into the right position. Admittedly you shouldn't need to do so on a £400 system but it took all of 5-10 minutes
Yeah but no, it'll be better than a cold air feed like.
I lol at the pic above with the induction kit plonked on the end of the IC. The internet is leading to a society where nobody ever looks into learning for themselves, leading to asking of silly questions that could so easily have been...
