Both the 172 & Cup have the same Thatcham Cat 1 alarm system mate...
Youll know if it has one as there will be ultrasonics on the front pillars near the windscreen, so just look up and see if theyre there.
To set it off, lock the car as normal, wait a couple of mins, then unlock a door...
Here are all mine...
Fiesta 1.1 Pop Plus - Boggo
Metro 1.3 City X - Sports backbox, K&N filter, white steel wheels, some stereo
Nova 1.3 SR - Twin-choke Webber carb, Pipercross filter, Splitfires, comp ignition leads, full sports zorst, Astra GTE brakes with uprated pads...
I have one, but Ive never fitted it to my Cup and wont be doing so...
Had it on my 306 Rallye and it did f*ck all to either performance or economy so did nowt apart from make a daft noise!
That oil you ordered is the wrong grade though...
We told you it was 10W40 and thats what Renault specify, but you got different stuff, so theyll probably moan about that!
Just get a filter off them and do it yourself, its p!ss easy!
Well, BB Tuning do sell pukka Renault oil filters and they only cost £5.88 but with the p&p added they are £14.02 so just go to your local dealer who will have them in stock!
Make sure you buy a genuine one though...
I always check what Im paying for now...
When I had my 106 GTi I got loads knocked off the 2 year/20k service becuase they didnt do certain stuff (at my request) and it was enough to get the stamp in the book & keep the warranty!
Met up with Chris (aka chris n nic) this lunchtime and had a blast in each others cars...
His Cup also has the same PAS fluid leak, from the same place, but not as bad as mine, but his PAS pump sounds noisy like mine too!
Now I dont feel as bad!
Just want it sorted then I can...
There is no service in the schedule until 12k miles or 2 years and its the same for other new cars as they dont need to anymore.
Manufacturing tolerances are much better and designs are such that these days it aint neccessary.
Some people do change it early though for peace of mind...
It wont "break" as such, it will just progressively get worse and start crunching going into gear.
My mates has been doing it for a few thousand miles now, so dont worry.
Get it in and have them check it for your peace of mind though...
