Had a decat pipe fitted to my Ph2 172 last week and all is well apart from when I boot it in 1st and 2nd or pull away on a hill. The car makes a rumbling/grinding noise as if the exhaust is hitting the sub frame?? Thing is there is no play in the exhaust at all. Any idea what it could be?

Had my 172 decatted about a week ago and it was running on Nitro. Put some standard Asda rats piss in yesterday and the car feels horrible. It just doesn't feel 'up for it'. No where near as lively. It does have the 98ron RS Tuner map though.

The r56 JCW is 208bhp if it's a factory built R56 - not a standard S with the JCW kit on (wheels etc). They are pretty rapid and will see a 172/182 off.

My 172 feels like a completely different car with the decat fitted. Really revvy, no flat spots. MPG has gone up too. 46mpg at 60mph today.

Will a lambda sensor for a 197 fit a Phase 2 172? Pretty much the same engine isn't it??

It was the fuse. Swapped it out and they started working.

My front wipers have died this morning. Seems like they were frozen to the screen and my brother had turned them on. They won't work at all now. The rear one is fine. What fuse is it I need to check?

Looking to decat my Ph2 172. It's got a K-Tec stealth on 2'5 inch bore. Do I need to buy a particular decat pipe for this exhaust? Thanks

Got the same problem with my 172. Pretty sure it's the lambda because it STINKS of petrol on tick over.

Never serviced a car before but after looking at guides and that, it doesn't look particularly difficult. Any tips or anything different I need to do servicing a PH2 172? I'm going to change the spark plugs too as I don't think they have been done before. Cheers.

Plugged in my RS tuner and it only came up with one fault - brake sensor or something like that. Cleared it and it hasn't come back. The car seems really hesitant from 2-2,500 rpm.

I'll stick it on the fault code reader and see what it comes up with. How many lambda's are on the 172?

The MPG on my Phase 2 172 has steadily dropped from around 39mpg to 32mpg - I do 40 miles a day @ 60-70mph. The car seems a bit hesitant at times when I boot it, as if it's miss firing or holding back. I've tried running it on V-Power and it rises to about 35mpg (it's got the RS Tuning 98 ron...

Any idea what the file name of it is? I've done a search in my inbox and there is no email with an attachment. Emails go back to 2010 from fastchip. I'm pretty sure I logged in and downloaded it.

I can't find the 98ron map anywhere. Is there a place I can re-download it from?? It's a version 1.77.

When I pull away in my 172 I'm getting a dragging noise, most audible if someone is in the back or if I'm pulling away on a hill. It's definitely coming from the rear, checked the exhaust and that isn't loose. My Saxo had the same problem and it was the break load sensing valve that was...

Are the driveshafts the same for the Mk2 sports? Will 182 driveshafts fit a 172 etc?

I have a PH2 172 that's gearbox has decided to eat itself. I am hunting down a clutch to go with the new gearbox (speedo drive variant). Do I need a particular clutch or will any 172/182 fit ok?

It's an 02 plate so it's possibly the one with speedo drive then. How can I confirm which box it is? Can Renault tell me if I ring them. Thanks

It's a standard 172 non cup so I would have thought without speed drive as it deffinitely has ABS. The speedo went a bit dodgy last year and a Renault specialist fixed it for me. Apparently a sensor had gone but he said 'on the gearbox'. Sounds like speed drive to me?

I'm going to source a new box off here, clutch off ebay and probably get the driveshafts done whilst i'm at it. Is there a way I can tow it, without it constantly nose diving?? What is speedo drive I keep reading about? Has my 172 got that on it's gearbox?

It won't tow mate, the car won't move. Front wheels need raising off the floor. I'm looking about £100 for a clutch.
