Sent my uncle to a SEAT dealer to get two ibiza splitters for front and back of clio, but parts guy said to get toledo ones as the look better and are only £16 each. He was right, they are the same size and shape but have a better venting (full width). Anybody seen a clio with them on that I...
I have had seven snapped wheel studs on my 16v some shear when tightening, some when you go to loosen them (even if they have been copasliped up). Has to be a weakness with them. Getting them out once snapped is actually (thank god) fairly easy, as they always shear at same point, and with disc...
I used to bounce between half and 3/4 on temp and 110+ on oil. But new head gasket, water pump, and low temp thermostat from bbpt mean it all runs much much cooler. A good flush helps also, dont let your valver or willy run too hot, they hate it. Guages are all a bit vague sometimes
I got a new water pump for my 16v and when the box came its label said clio diesel also. so I guess so, member a little instant gasket as actual gasket you get is very thin, have fun
Hmm its interesting all the same, Since slam panel is a bolt on on Clio 16v its possible this could be made to work, they surely wouldnt advertise it for clio otherwise. It could be good with mods to bonnet, slam panel and with a carbon airbox
hub nut is 22mm (or at least I am pretty sure it is). Watch before ball joint locking bolt (where it attaches to hub) doesnt shear on you as thats happened to me twice
I made one out of sheet aluminium (was going to be steel but cant be arsed stopping it from rusting), its much much better than standard onehttp://erc.qmuc.ac.uk/cliosport/gallery/thumb/1070382597__SHEILD1small
Have some sheeting left, if anybody interested, could knock a few up for cost price...
Ive had my manifold and downpipe off a few times heres couple of tips. If you are struggling for space getting downpipe off, undo gearbox link so as engine is free to swing on other two engine mounts, this makes getting manifold and downpipe easier to get in and out. Also the two springs and...
I was looking for caliper rebuild kits recently for valver rear calipers, didnt find any, but then didnt look particularily hard. Let us know if you find them anywhere. Totally strip caliper down hammer slides out, clean any rust etc, slap on loads of grease and put back together. Keeps them...
ill save u a search these are all known to be valver bogeys
Headgaskets go so really check coolant for signs and a recent change, wheel bearings howl after surprisingly little mileage, cambelts snap so make sure its recent or deduct cost to fit when buying(excess of £300), rot occurs in arches...
impact driver is usually the only way to get them out, but failing that just drill the head off it. YOu dont really need to replace them as wheel bolts hold it all together anyway, these wee countersunk bolts dont do anything other than locating disc on fitting, make piss all difference once...
that was what i was thinking, think i will just adjuste it up until car feels better under heavy braking. Had a golf gti before that was fond o locking its back wheels and it got me and the person i sold it to into trouble a couple of times, bit of a liability.
As an aside is it possible to...
Failed MOT on a rear pipe from load sensor valve to drivers rear caliper. However ended up changing all the rear pipes which was not fun but managed it, and also managed to connect all four connection onto top of load sensor valve and get it remounted correctly (anybody whose done this will know...
its not that bad, I answered a similar post on this, do a search, the thing thats seems to slow everybody down doing this is quite often they dont have a 7mm allen key to lossen aux belt tensioner. But this is not that difficult a job, albeit a little more time consuming than alternator on other...
yeah i remember i was almost in tears when restarting my vlaver after engine out rebuild. you just have to blank the noise from your mind and be patient, noise on my dissappeared slowly but was completly gone after about five ten mins at a fast idle, and have been silent ever since, bar the...
I would only bother with uprated cambelt if you are changing to solid lifters, which is only likely if you are going for a really hairy cam profile! unless its a similar price I would just go for a good quality standard version of belt
running differing profiles of cams on standard pulleys is a bit of a waste as without vernier pulleys they cannot be timed in perfectly. Vernier allow more accurate timing, as they can be adjusted to smaller angles of degree, wheras with standard pulleys you are stuck with one tooth being min...
You can also have a blown head gasket without oil and water mixing. Mine when it went was allowing coolant out the side, between head and block, with not a drop of coolant or oil mixing or going into the combustion chambers.
slight pitting is ok and expected, what is more important is that the heads face is level and flat. Get a decent straight edge (engineers ruler or something like that) and check it in both directions. If in doubt get it skimmed, but mine looked ok and so I never skimmed it and it appears fine
I do all my own work on my valver which has saved at least a grand, but has left me cursing away when doing the spannering, however you can find several lists on here of what goes wrong, and then make sure the one you are looking doesnt have them, or that they have already been seeing to...
Having redone my valvers engine and refitted it was pleased she was running so sweet, and thought I had tackled all the difficult and annoying jobs a valver could throw at you. Unfortunetly not, needed a new rear brake pipe for MOT test and decided to change the lot, as its hard to detach them...
early phase 1 had no cat, which could explain why your mate thinks they are quicker, although I am not sure that non cat ones were actually any better power wise, but they might be marginally, but basically same car
cant reply to you king.stromba about this (you PMd me) as your box is full. There was only one side of mine with play so only changed that arm. You can buy them seperate from rack, I paid reno dealer about £58 or so for passenger side one, which includes rod end, hope that helps. It made a...
