Surely someone on here has driven all of these 3 and can give an unbiased view on which they reckon to be the best...
The williams is said to be the best hot hatch ever according to EVO... I want to know whether thats a load of old pony or whether it can still give the 2 newest renault sports...
Got mine @ 62k.. its done 64 now.
Ive replaced a broken suspension spring and the starter motor. The starter motor was playing up a bit so I just got a new one as it was under warranty, otherwise I would have just refurbed it.
make no mistake if serviced regularly the willy engine is...
1100 quid fully comp.... 25yrs old... 1yrs no claims... with Liverpool Victoria
Pretty chuffing good... best altenative came from direct line at 1400 quid.
These guys are class... esp for a group 17 motor.
Had a scoot with these 2 yesterday.. all pretty high speed stuff on sweeping motorway slip roads...
Results were that the cossie was rapid as you might expect pulling away until his arse dropped on a tight bend and he eased off...
The ST220 though didnt proove to be that quick, I went away...
I think properly weighted power steering is fine for whatever driving you do.
Obviously you dont want super light steering assisted when youre trying to feel whats going on at the wheels but I can safely say the weight of the power steering in a Williams is spot on... after all they have power...
Anyone know the effects of say going from a 185/55/15 to a 195/50/15 tyre?
Or in other words fitting the same size tyres from a 172 onto a Williams.
Does oversize rubber give any handling benefits, or does it actually c**k the handling up?
maybe the one on your 1.4 is different...the one one the williams is sealed I can assure you of that.... 7 clips and 3 bolts ensure the air box remains air tight apart from the inlet..
Im liking the sound of this 3 part meguiars stuff.. with the spray that takes it back to a shine after it gets a bit dirty.
Where on the high street does meguiars?
The gloss protection stuff has worked quality..
You polish as normal using the resin polish then apply a coat of the protection. It comes out like paint thinners and youre not meant to rub it in just coat the surface in it.
It dries to like a white powdery finish which you should leave for...
Ive been using the autoglym products for a few washes now and can safely say they are the canines danglies....
However... there may be better out there.
Ive used the body shampoo conditioner stuff (green label), the super resin polish and the extra gloss protection... Ive got no complaints...
The reason why a dirty big filter aint the best idea is down to pressure as you said...
if the induction system on your 1.4 is anything like the one on my williams it will rely on a healthy amount of pressure being built up in the air box for it to suck in the correct quatities of air.
Get...
Get a civic type R... I rate them highly... looking like an mpv? cant see that myself.
If Id had the money I would have got one and would be presently ragging the arse of that quality Vtec motor right now.
Plus.. great seats... great looks.... quality gear stick position ( very rally...
I met up with one... had to stop for it to go passed on a roundabout.. let it go by and then hammered it after him, he saw me coming and floored it...
lets just say the mid range power of the williams proved decisive, his had what looked like a peco back box wheras mine had knackered old...
If mine wasnt done on a warranty a couple of weeks ago i would have gone for a refurbed one.... take yours in and get it done for 40 quid, itll come back good as new.
Anywhere worth its salt will give you a years guarantee on the refurb aswell...
got 300 out of it by behaving myself on a 180 mile motorway trip mixed with a bit of booting it during the week.
Just about to run out now and I ve got 268 on the trip counter...thats with around town driving and a decent slice of rev limiter action.
Ive just changed the plugs though so im...
Ill give them a try next time... theyve worked out cheaper for you than the bog standard champion ones I got at the weekend.
The ones I took out of mine were shot to pieces like I said...hardly any electrode left.
These new ones have been like a breath of fresh air... its started to pull...
Ive just bought some standard champion ones the little sticker on the engine block recommends... the ones that came out were shagged...coked up and hardly any electrode left...should be in for a nice surprise when I take it for a spin.
Brun, let me know how you get on with those platinum...
Is it possible to do a change the belt without taking the engine out?
It seems too close to the drivers side suspension mount to get the covers off...
If it can be done I can get access to a ramp and Ill do it... Id just be a bit wary of getting the belt off and not being able to get the new...
get the starter done and stick it back on with nice clean earths, should do the trick.
It doesnt sound like your plugs are knackered, it sounds like the starter is struggling to turn the engine.
Has anyone ahd some of those NGK R sparks plugs in for a while, what are they like for fuel consumption etc...
Plus, has anyone tried some iridium tipped plugs.. better fuel consumption or myth?
