Just got some tyre fitted this week on newish wheels and the weights that were taken off and the ones put on were completely different and in different places. I think it is a combination between tyres not being perfect along with the wheels.
What I should of asked is will I be disappointed with the federals compared to r888's or A048's?
Fred - are the silverstones pure slicks? Need something that could also do something in the rain other than killing me. :dead:
Looking for some new rubber to wrap round my new 2118's and am looking for some recommendations.
I had both R888's and A048's on my 16's and was pleased with both of them but can get a set of Federal RS-R's in 195 50 R15 for £250.
The tyres will only be used on track so no issues with road...
Still got some way to go then. With the set up I have (pads/discs/fluid) what would be the temp limit before I should start to worry?
Obviously if the brakes are still good then I can spend more time out on track rather than letting them cool down all the time.
You only need a licence to remap your car not to read codes. If you bought a second hand rstuner you could read the codes and sell it on for as much as you bought it for so it could work out free.
I think knockhill is very heavy on brakes as the track is only 1.3miles and the hairpin and duffas at the end of the main straight you are very hard on the brakes and lap after lap you are not getting alot of time to get the heat out of them again so the heat just builds up.
I know nearly...
Re: 172 Cup track toy!
First track day yesterday with the white line ARB and decatted yozza exhaust.
ARB made the car feel a lot more stable and controllable at speed. Very impressed so far and that only on the softer setting so I might try the harder one next time.
Yozza exhaust sounds epic...
Thought I'd get some data on brake disc temperatures at a track day as was at yesterday to see how much difference ducts actually make.
I used an infrared laser thermometer and checked as soon as I could when I came off after 2 cool down laps after around 20 fast laps.
Car is a 172 cup...
The glasgow branch did an excellent job on my O2 wheels. I wanted the exact colour match of the original oz anthracite which as it turned out was a complete pain in the ass to get but they managed it and the work was top quality.
Highly recommend them.
Fitted mi e at the weekend and found if you jam a bit of wood from the block to the bolt of the manifold/cat joint it is a lot easier for people who have no friends like me! Lol:rasp:
Get 'easyouts' from your local hardware store. They are left hand thread tepered bolts that you drill into the sheared bolt with that eventually grips and removes it leaving the original thread of the hole in tact.
And use a torque wrench to 105Nm next time.
