Think i have a spare gearbox to collect shortly, whats expected cost for a recon normally?
Thing is, id like to strip mine and repair as i know what syncros are at fault, but i dont know the spare box!

So whats the difference in a Cup box to a standard 172? What and where are the codes on them? Im away to get a spare box to rebuild for my clio just now.

Had my car out for the first time today on the track and its crunching some gears pretty bad.
I know its a common issue so a 2nd hand box seems pointless, so what have others done?
full rebuild? Just had syncros replaced?
Want it fixed ASAP as the car is near perfect on track otherwise!!

Weight saving is really only for hardcore track cars.
On my work roller brake tester ive recently weighed a 182 (1070kg), a Clio dynamique (1020kg) and my track 172 (940kg).
It isnt accurate like corner weights but gives an indication. Mine is still fully road legal.

Ordered a rear anti roll bar now too, hopefully handle good and just need to mess about with dampening and RARB.

Me and my pal should be there (both 172s) providing they survive their first outing this weekend, Fraser and Niel.A are already booked, i think there will be around 8 Clios as there is always a few unknown ones there too!

Theres normally loads of track days throughout the year, random forums etc.
Google search can bring some up or maybe knockhill could give you dates and contacts to book via.
Are cup wishbones longer too? If so, maybe the 2 you had problems with had accidentaly had standard replacement wishbones, meaning to correct tracking the tre's would need wound further in and hence bottoming out?
My bottom arms are both stamped RS so still original and as i say, no problem...

You were running RSRs though werent you? Think they roll a lot more than 88s! Toyo advise 5deg max!
Toe is on front, havent checked rear nor do i have any way of checking it. How do you go about adjusting rear toe if needed!??
Cheers, ive set it up to give it a shot- 4 degrees neg camber front, 2 degrees neg rear. 10min toe out.
Havent had corner weights done, will be done at some point, probably once its ballasted up for Super lap scotland!
