I've re-fitted my exhaust but it's blowing at the joint between the cat and the stainless steel cat-back section. I have replace the Renault metal gasket with a new OEM one, but it still blows and I've even tried plugging the gap with several gaskets!

I've noticed when I take my foot off the throttle the revs aren't dying/dropping as quickly as they should be. Also the revs drop and then rise slightly again.

Has anyone fitted an accelerator cable on a phase 1, 172 (without the use of a car lift). When I looked it wasn't clear how it is routed from the throttle to the pedal. How straightforward are they to do?

Does anyone remember which thread it was that had a photo showing all the sensors on the F4R engine - I think it was a racing version of the engine, but it still showed what all the sensors were on the road engine. Flippin useful but I forgot to save a copy. Anyone?

Renault want £25 and I reckon GSF can do it cheaper, but they want a part number make sure it's the right one.

Has anybody taken out their sound-proofing, carpet like material from the back of the engine bay? I just wonder if it actually has much of a purpose (like the sound-proofing, carpet like material on the underside of the bonnet which I have already...
I thought the torque setting for the wheels was 77 lb/ft. Matey at the tyre place thinks this is too low. Does anyone know if 77 isn't right?

I think Eibach Pros are black which are the same as the stock ones on my 172Ph1 and the Sportlines are red. Is that right? I need some black springs with no markings on them to make them insurance 'friendly'. :cool:

One of my door keys seems to be on its way out, can they be opened-up and a new battery stuck in, or is it a case of forking-out dosh to Reno (it's for a 172 BTW)?

Fitted a set of new rear discs yesterday with new bearings, ABS rings and pads. Was a piece of wotsit to do, looks miles better than the rusty originals. Pics attached.

Does anyone know if the lower balljoint on the 172 is different to those on the other clios? One shop says it is a different part and another says they are all the same. Anyone know?

I'm after the best place to buy some parts from. I prefer to buy genuine Renault parts but not at daft prices. I need to get: lower balljoints, track rod ends, bushes, dog bone engine mount, suspension strut bearing and probably a set of Eibach pro springs.
Any advice?

I'm after some advise. It's time to change the front and rear springs on my 172 phase 1. I don't want it lowered only stiffened up a bit. Would a set of cup springs work I wonder, should be a bit stiffer? Any thoughts?

Yep, I'm having some squirting problems, please help.
Twice during the day I floored it (a 172 phase 1) and when I did it squirted a little screen wash from the jet over the rear window. It defo did it. Totally weird. Anyone possibly know why?

I've just changed my gearbox oil and blimey it stinks - smells like gas. I was also lying down lots and just hope it hasn't gone in my hair and in my head. Should cure the dandruff! Anyone know why it smells like that? (It was gear 300, synthetic stuff by Motul, going for a blast later to see...
I have gone over my car touching-up a few stone chips with a paint pen from Renault. I now need to blend it in, removing little areas of paint where too much has gone on. Is clay the best thing to use for this or polish?
