Turned it over by hand and didn't feel like there was any contact at all. That was a few weeks ago mind. Put it in the car last night and tried to fire it up. Feel like a right tool, done loads of belts before. Should have gone on my instincts when the cam tool was tight but was in a rush and...
Hi Guys,
Is it possible for the inlet and exhaust valves to come into contact with each other when fully open? I know this is an issue on Peugeot S16/GTi-6 motors.
Managed to balls up the cam timing and get the exhaust 180 degrees out. That will teach me to rush lol.
Sent from my iPhone...
Unreliable sacks of s**t as well, i know somebody with one. It has broken down and been in the garage to sort issues so many times it's almost funny now.
Hi Guys,
Does anyone run powerflex camber bushes? not really a fan of powerflex stuff but i need to increase my track width slightly and was wondering how much offset there is on the metal sleeve?
Regards,
Mike
Defintely get some uprated valves in whatever you do, ED do Supertec's for another £230 or so. I just fully rebuilt my motor and was surprised by the amount of wear on the valve stems, originally i thought it was the valve guides were worn due to the amount of axial play but after measuring the...
Get the trailer re-plated with a lower weight limit, will still be close if you are carrying wheels/loads of gear because you have to account for yourself as well. E46 would actually be a better choice, 1800kg towing capacity but a lighter car gives more margin when towing something like a Clio.
To add another one into the mix, i'm pretty sure the UK clio cup wheels were not engraved but where also the lightweight casting like the engraved type in europe. None of the wheels that came with my cup car where engraved but very much different to the additional 2118's i have purchased in...
I wouldn't use the mount on the sill for the eyebolt, if you grab your harness strap and pull straight up on it you will see the sill flex. The eye bolt creates more leverage than the standard mounting bar, It is only sufficient with the standard type seatbelt as the load is spread across two...
I use 1.5 degree's camber and 0 toe on mine, use to run 10 minutes of toe out but found it a bit to lively if you ever had to lift slightly in a dodgy situation. Probably not as fast now but faster than smashed into a bank haha.
Yeah they did, first thing i moved on mine. Wouldn't be that bothered on a circuit car but in rallying the chances of hitting something side on that is narrow and hard are very high.
I have used this place quite a few times, stuff seems to be pretty good. Much cheaper and Goodridge:

Thanks Paul, i already have most of those. It's the manual for the bottom end of the engine with piston ring/bearing clearances and torque settings that i am after. Thanks though
Go for Teflon lines, rubber ones can let fuel vapor into the cabin when they get a bit old.
Run the lines down the middle of the car, i have seen quite a few cars with it running down the sill which IMO is pretty silly. All it takes if an impact on the sill on crush the line rendering your...
Hi Guys,
Does anyone have a copy of workshop manual for an F4R 730, i need specs on piston ring and bearing clearances, torque settings for crank and head etc. I have had a good look through the forum and cant find anything.
Regards,
Mike
Not sure if you have had the answer to this but the input shaft is different on the cable change box so would get very expensive to convert with official Sadev parts. Surely a hydro clutch conversion kit would be the simplest/cheapest solution? or some how adapt a slave cylinder onto the cable...
Wouldn't bother for a daily as it will catch you out at some point, they are fine for hillclimb/circuit cars as you have very little accessories for draw it down. Unless you go lithium but they are quite expensive and personally i wouldn't fancy having one in my car because if your alternator...
Standard pistons are known to start breaking up with sustained high RPM usage, id look at some forged pistons for reliability. This is the route i will be going down, just going for the mildest NA ones they do. Think they are 11.8:1.
Depends on how hard you drive it really, on my EP3 hill climb car i was running Kumho V70a in super soft up front with R888 on the rear. It was fine until your really pushed it, when on the limit the back would let go quite violently without warning (on power). That is coupling a full race tyre...
How good is the fitment in and around the fog light hole on these? the original cup racer ones were terrible fitting, never bothered to fit them again.
Hi Guys,
How common is it to replace the main studs when rebuilding an F4R? will be carrying out a basic rebuild on my motor and would rather not spend the extra £100+ on studs if it's not necessary, its a bog stock engine so wont be over stressed.
Standard Brembo type are fine for fast road on standardish power, if you need anything more you should probably think about saving that type of driving for the track/competition. I've cooked road pads before but if your really dialed into the car then you will find that you actually brake less...
Just take them off, ruining your scrub raduius and putting extra load on your wheel bearings. Perfectly safe if they are through stud type though, up to you really but on track id want as much handling as i could get out of the car.
I must have watched nearly every video on his channel by far, proper enthusiast and i like the way he isn't scared to modify and modernize vintage cars to make them usable on a regular basis.
Instead of riveting a plate over the sunroof which is a bit 80's throw it together rally style have you considered making an aluminium panel the exact dimensions of the glass to fit the sunroof mechanism? That way you have a functional sunroof to let warm air out and wont need to paint your roof...
