If you are confident it's at tdc, go ahead and lock the pulleys and then remove the tension on the tensioner.
Take out the crank bolt and have a look at where the keyway in the crank is. It should be in the middle of the two ribs on the outer casing, roughly 1 o'clock position like this
I use a cheap 5L Ansio garden sprayer off Amazon for my prewash tfr, seems decent for the money and it's a UK company so spares are easy to get. They even include a spare set of seals in the box.
Other than that I have a Wurth brake cleaner 1L sprayer for various things, that'll take any...
Drill holes in the rear chassis directly behind the black plastic trim in the bumper.
Bolt tow eyes with spreader plates.
Cut a slot in the bumper for tow eye to pass through.
On the back of the box near the starter motor, is there an inspection plate that bolts to the box to cover the flywheel?
Just worth a look because a mate of mine had a noise similar on his MK3 megane and it turned out that plate was loose.

If it's not speeding up in time with the revs then I would say it isn't anything rotational...

Ahh that's the bump stops for the rack.
They sit between the inner tie rod and the rack.
Don't know where you can purchase them tbh.
