Im not sure as never worked on diesels. On most petrol engines the temp sensor is on the thermostat mounting (which is on the passenger side of the block). As far as Im aware they have just 1 sensor to measure coolant temp thats used for the ecu and gauge. Has anyone checked the pre-heating...
K4J definatly has the bleed screw on the thermostat, I think it looks like a normal mounting screw like all the others. I think it would also be ok to bleed from where the temp sensor plugs in.
Prob a best idea to bleed it all and start again as you dont want trapped air anywhere.
Mines called christine, named because its red and has a mind of its own (car in the stephen King film). My old clio was called michelle after michelle marsh :o .
A 172/182 is £210 now, next year its £260, year after its £270
A 172mk1 is £185 now, £185 next year, year after its £200 (except a few registered between mar01-jun01).
This question is for my mate who i work with, he doesnt use t-internet much. His 172 sounds really rough, sounds like when a exhaust is buggered, sounds really tinny and rattly. It idles fine and doesnt do it when the exhaust and engine are really warm (after 30 mins of driving)
He has...
No it must have been spilt or leaked from somewhere else. Maybe spilt from an oil change. Theres not much near the mount that would leak oil tbh. The rubber can perish but it doesnt look like oil. Can you take a pic?
Im sure on any mk2ph2 Clio the fuel filter is 150K, if its a 172mk1 its easily replaced on every major service. Asumming you had the aux belt changed at 72, it will be due soon at 108k. Dont forget the tensioner and idler.
Change all the air,oil and pollen filter, change oil, brake fluid...
Look at the dipstick carefully, when the oil is new its hard to see on its metal surface. You dont want to overfill it, if you put 5 litres in and nothings come out the bottom I wouldnt risk it.
