As above its the 2nd lambda connector. Some ph1s only had 1 connector anyway, later ones had 2. Id just wrap the end up in electrical tape to protect it.
My brother is learning to drive, he has just bought a 1.2 Clio authentique, he had a go in my 172 once, he sat in the car and slammed the door shut that hard that the plastic door trim came off. So that was the end of that lesson.
Try resetting the automatic cable adjuster by disconnecting the cable from the clutch fork pulling it out as far as it will go, then press the pedal down as far as it will go and stick the cable back on the fork.
Its a very common, problem. Do a search. Basically renault do a kit that fixes it. You can also buy some foam pads to wrap round all the contact points. The sunroof can rattle at the front where the forks slot in the car. Also the handle can rattle or creak where the roof rests on the bar.
The steering rack is attached, if you pull the frame down too much it will pull the power steering pipes and may cause damage. You prob only need to let it drop half an inch. Theres a guide somewhere in the guides section which includes lowering the subframe.
Sounds like the garage may have missunderstood where they fit. The fronts go from the solid line in the arch where the bracket is to the caliper. The rears go from the lines under the car to the axle (not to the calipers).
Your old bearings will be destroyed getting them out if your re-using the old ones. You have 2 options, buy the whole kit from Renault(£170) or GSF (£150), all ready assembled with bearings and abs rings. Or buy cheap discs and bearings and pay a garage a fiver to press them in, then re-use...
