As Ben says this is worth a try. Loosen the bolts on the drivers side mount pull the engine forward with the mount plate and re-tighten. It should have the gap show in the pic at the front of the mount, not the back (arrowed)if that makes sense.
You have to buy the whole bracket which includes the rubber star mount, replace the centre one at the same time as the rear relies on the middle to be just as strong.
Rear bracket 7700424339 £17.35 plus vat
Centre mount 7700424341 £6.50 plus vat
Get someone to sit in the car and rock the steering, see if you can tell if its coming from the lower suspension from around the hubs, or the top near the turrets as in the above guide, failing that it could be the steering rack. See if there is much movement of the steering rack in the mounts.
I dont think that kit will be right for a 172. Give biggred a ring on the number on there website, they guy that runs the place is a mate of mine ask for john, he is very helpfull.

Try cleaning the TDC sensor, there is a guide somewhere on here with pictures, failing that try cleaning replacing the coolant temp sensor and check the connections. Does the temp gauge seem erratic?

Which part is it the one near the manifold/cat? It can be bent into shape so it doesnt vibrate so much, also try tightening the bolts on the brackets if you can get to them.
Its hard to see in the bottle and where the line is, shine a small bright torch down it and this will light up the fluid so you can see where it is on the min/max line.
No idea what the correct part number is, they should be NGK platinum PFR6E-10. Renault charge £13 each but you can order a 4 pack from some online shops for about £30.
