I fitted my stiff shift 1.0 with brass bushes last Saturday and it made a huge difference to taking the slack out of the gearbox but it was very, very stiff.
I used copper grease around the ball and brass bushes, measured the collars and all seemed fine. However, I think my brother used the...
My ABS wasn't working on my first couple of track days due to a dodgy rear sensor. I then went on to fix this due to my MOT however I came in within 3 laps on my last track day due to the horrendous brake feel.
I then pulled the abs fuse and cracked on and put in some ok times. Having now...
I know this is personal preference but as a start point, what should I be asking for?
The car is track use only other than being driven to and from.
The front is currently around 15mm from the lowest setting and the rear is as low as it will go and both are 12 clicks from soft.
What toe and...
I've seen this on a few track orientated cars now and I'm assuming it allows the removal of bracketry etc.
Any tips on what can be moved are placement of the catches?
I'm looking for new areas to strip and lighten on my track car and really like the look of the phase 2 dash top only.
I want to keep the heater/blowers though as I'm fitting polycarbs and don't want to freeze in winter and boil in summer.
Is it possible to keep the blowers without the lower...
I've just fitted a new stub axle to fix an ABS sensor issue but the stub axle is the thinner phase 1 version.
How do I split the spindle from the caliper and ABS sensor carrier to swap the thicker spindle back on?
For future reference as it may help some, I've just fitted a new stub axle to my phase 172 due to an ABS sensor fault.
The phase 2 stub axle was the thicker 18mm iirc from a 51 plate 172.
The replacement stub axle was from a phase 1 172 and was the thinner stub axle.
Ill fit an ABS sensor...
I bought these ages ago and will be fitting them in the coming week.
Now I know suspension is all about prefernce but thoughts would be appreciated.
The car is solely used on track other than driving to and from. I have just fitted Spax track day kit and Pure top mounts. Eibach camber bolts...
I've fitted my Spax RSX today with pure top mounts but now have knocking which I think is due to missing off a couple of items.
On the initial build up of the struts, using the Spax spacer and/or the bottom Pure Motorsport spacer wouldn't allow enough thread on the damper shaft to tighten the...
I have an abs light on which has been diagnosed as an open circuit on the drivers side rear.
Ive taken a punt on a used stub axle and abs sensor for £30 rather than a new Renault sensor for £125. If I simply plug the new sensor in without fitting the stub axle, will the light extinguish or...
I'm on a bit of a weight saving mission with my track car and wondered if this would yield any results.
Now I'm not expecting miracles but very little helps.
Thoughts?
I've got the brackets on the way and am sourcing an alternator.
Do I need any new bolts to fit the new setup to my 172 or can they be taken from my old kit?
I've just been around Blyton Park with Doncaster_K9.
I have a 172, Phil has a VTS both of which are stripped.
We're both running R888's, I'm on Sportlines and with a Whiteline. Phil is lowered, unknown suspension and top and bottom braces.
My plan has always been coils as I don't like the...
I've been fiddling with my RSTuner alot recently and it often brings up a rear O2 sensor fault in the memory.
This doesn't show as a current fault but only historic.
Any thoughts?
The car was diagnosed with an open circuit to the off side rear ABS sensor.
Rather than trace for a split, I thought I'd just replace the sensor.
I ordered one from GSF on eBay which their advert said would fit which it didn't, they then sent me the part number for the correct item which I...
Hi Guys
I have a 172 running 6500_2A08. I have a cal and rst file that should work however every time I try to write, I get an error message as file not recognized.
I think the files I have could be dicky.
Does anyone have a cal and rst I could try?
Thanks
I have just bought an RSTuner and the airbag module to turn off the airbag lights due to buckets. I have also cleared some old fault codes.
I still have the service light on and the ABS light. Phil (Doncaster_K9) had this diagnosed as a faulty rear ABS sensor on a Reault clip when he had the...
I was at Elvington today on my last flying lap and I felt a misfire, I slowed down, completed half a lap and the car cut out.
Oil pressure, temperature etc was fine but it wouldn't restart. I left it to cool down and it restarted and all was good.
On the way home and it started again then...
As she's now pretty much as I want her, other than a damn good clean, I thought I'd stick some pic's up.
She is filthy and the pictures aren't the best but you get the idea.
As she started (not mine but the same barring the leather).

Ladies and Gents,
Long time no post. Glad to see things are still ticking along nicely on here.
I still officially own my 172 after I parked it on my parents drive a year ago with suspected head gasket failure.
My Mate has decided to take the car for peanuts but after taking the head off, it...
I spotted the Anthracite wheels first then my patented Renault F1 team stickers under the side repeaters.
It looked well.
I was in the grey E46 M3 as we were sat at the traffic lights.
After nearly 4 years & various different wants/desires/dreams, I've finally done what I've been planning for a while and bought a replacement chariot.
The Clio has been brilliant but has p!ssed me off no end of late with niggly little issues such as a radiator hose leak, non starting on first...
I'm picking my new car up tomorrow evening so I will be clearing the Clio out.
I fitted an Alpine headunit and forgot to empty the CD changer before I disconnected the standard headunit. I would reconnect the standard head unit but my brother is having the car as is so it would be alot of...
Just had my renewal through for my 172 from Greenlight for £432.70 which is exactly the same as last year.
I'm 26 with 8 years protected NCB & No points. Light mods but nothing major. I would have expected a drop in price.
I've been quoted £580 by Flux. Are there any others I could get a...
Chaps,
I have my Kangoo top mount and upper gearbox mount fitted along with my new lower mount and poly-bushed dog bone.
The car is definatley much tighter with instant throttle response and a very solid feel now, even the ride is improved. There is no extra vibration caused by the mounts...
I've changed all four mounts. The top mount and upper gearbox mount are Kangoo TD items, the lower gearbox mount is from K-Tec and the dog-bone is a Powerflex.
Now when I steer left even at low speed and on shallow corners, it feels as if the right front wheel is tucking under the car, the...
