My Gearbox completely lost drive on Tuesday night, only had the box 6 months. its going to Renault tomorrow to be fixed under warranty. Think its the circlip, but why should i have to much about with it.

Its a black in colour and is on the front right hand side of the engine, looks like its on the inlet manafold. It has a cooling sistem hose on it and then goes into the inlet manafold/block.

Reqiure a little help with the 16V engine, a friend has a renualt 19 and there is water leaking from the metal looking elbow on the front (right side) of the engine, the elbow goes into the block around the inlet manafold area. Does anybody know how this is fitted, either screwed or pressed...

I just took the whole engine out, made it easier to put the new box on, but is a bit tight to get the engine back in!

is the breather blocked as this will cause the oil to come up ?

check the ignition components and check for a spark. Best way is to buy one of those little light gadgets from halfords (if fits between the plug and lead) to see if each lead is getting a power supply, and to check its firing in the correct order make sure the timing marks are are lined up...

Check the following, not putting you ability down but: Timing marks, HT leads going to the right plug, Earthing straps, Did you check for bent valves? Fuel supply Electircs

it says in the hand book every 72000 but you have to take into consideration the age of a belt, should be every 72000 or x number of years, mine gets changes every 3 years which is probably 30,000 roughly, never leave a belt on a car for longer than 5 years. My oil and filter is changed every...

Sounds like the valves might be bent??? or check the timing marks, and the ignition leads.

Its not too bad a job, but you have to take the engine off a couple of mounts, took my engine out and put it back in within a week. Would be willing to do it for you, but would charge.

Got to be expanding foam up the exhaust, then if you could manage it suger in the fuel tank.

I done my peddle and cable about 2 weeks ago, if youve gto good general knowledge of car maintenance then its not too bad to fix, just a little bit fiddly. Peddle was about £25 and the cable about £15 In total it took me around three hours one evening after work. Tony

All fitted, took three hours last night, was not too bad as ive skinny hands (only a few cuts). Only problem i had was ensuring that the neqw cable was routed round the engine and exhaust safely. Took it our for a spin after ;)

My cable has been fine for the past 2 1/2 years then went through what looked like age. Put a new cable on and didnt fit right, ok so its not a Genuine part but the adjuster would not work. Even had the AA out to look at it. eventually after 2 weeks the cable has snapped again. So now...

It a Genuine Renault peddle, was about £25. Going By steves comments im going to have the hump later.

Just like the engine oil, remove the drain plug from the bottom of the gearbox, there is also a pulg on the front of the box, take this out to release the air lock.

I think they are about £20, Mine came off and decided to melt itself onto the manafold

I will admit that ive had a few probs with the car and paid to get it fixed, but its such a fun car to drive, I love the pull you get from 3500rpm when you hold it in 2nd all the way to the red line ! There is no way me and my valver will part!

The main water pump is at the drivers side of the engine if the leak is at the back it could be a split hose or worse case a cracked head/block.
