hmmm amature my arse mate, i'm fully aware of this but the timing aind hard to do if you have a hole in your ass and a brain in your head! lining 3 marks up and locking the flywheel isnt the most taxing of things!
i'm speaking from experience as 6 months ago i knew f**k all! i have now rebuilt...
need to check things such as the feed to the pump and also if that checks out ok check your pressure regulator, voltage to the injector plugs (should be 12v) check the injectors themselves work and make sure you have the fuel lines on the correct way round (obvious one but could happen) feed...
i have a black valver, absolute b**ch to clean but looks ace when clean, my problem is i cant be arsed to wash it every week! my car is made for driving not washing :D
right now the numb nuts has had his laugh at you (prick) you will be pleased to know that its nothing to worry about unless the engine is knocking then obviously your in trouble! a lot of valvers have no oil pressure on idle as i found out when speaking to nick hill.
obviously it doesnt HAVE to be used during their service and they use something else. the bloke on the end of the phone is just a number crunching parts man, he wont know what the mechanics do from one ay to the next! just bang another good brand in there, it wont hurt it!
try a different lead on it first mate (ie swap it with no 2 on both the dizzy and plug) to test it, of its still doing the same it looks like a compression issue
they are hydraulic s the time themselves, if its still noisy you can clean them and there is a guide on retro renault, failing that a new set of tappets is about £70ish
bah only a couple of hours work if that! i'm not sayin that will 100% be your problem mate but as i say it will most certainly cause an earth problem :)
most certainly would, all earths are meant to be tight for a reason mate, i had a earth problem on the box which caused the car to not start so get it cleaned up and tightened down mate
what to change a HG!!!! why would you ever need the b/e out to do that?
if it wants skimming yeah it is more of a pain in the ass as you have to take both the fanimolds off etc but if its just the gasket it a piece of piss to do! you just need to make sure your feeling strong with a mate to...
could be big ends or main bearings, i wouldnt bother driving it round if i was your mate. have it looked at asap and yes it is likely to cost a bit but the engine could sieze if its not looked at
