This doesnt happen all the time but when it does its very annoying.
Ill stop at a junction, lights, whatever and the revs will idle at 2000rpm! It actually went higher the other day and I couldnt get it into first to pull away. The only quick way to stop it over reving is to just tap the...

Got my new Mk1 172 last weekend and that pulls to the left as well. If you hold the steering wheel straight the car will go right slightly. If you take your hands off the wheel it will turn to the left slightly and so does the car.
Come to think of it all my cars have pulled naturally to the...

Damn it, wish I had known before the deal I recon I could have had it chucked in for free. I knew Id forget something, too busy playing about with the car to notice the legal stuff...
Down the post office I go...!:@
Got my new car yesterday, Iceburg Silver Mk1 172 26KMiles £8995 and its an absolute minter, looks new!
Need some help though. I bought the car from a garage, not a Renault dealer but seemed respectable enough, good service and all. Only just realised the car has no tax!
Now I havent a lot of...

VR6man, Your mornings sound like mine!
Ive been having the same problem every now and then. Ill get in my car and it just wont start. This usually happens in the morning after a cold wet night, or when I havent driven the car for a day or two. It gets quite damp under the hood and the engine...

Ive always wondered  what is the actual difference between a GTI-6 and the Rallye? Is the Rallye stripped out a bit to lighten the car, make it quicker, and give better handling?
Also I would have thought the Willy would have been quicker in a straight line. GTI-6 0-60 is just over 8...

Thanks for the advice GR, sounds like you really dont like em!! LOL :D
Sorry Phil but I have to buy from a trader because I need to PX my current car. I want to get a mk1 anyway, I think they may hold there value quite well being as there arent many around now.
The reg number is W914 HDY and the former owners name was Steve. ANYONE RECOGNISE!
To be honest that price seems to be quite average at the moment. I phoned another garage earlier about a silver mk1 172 Xreg they had for sale. They had sold it last week for £8995 with 60k on the clock, mind...

S**T I could get my head up there!!!
Looks a bit over the top for a clio me thinks...and I agree with steves point, you may want to get something between the pipe and the bumper. Just in case ;)
Ive been looking round for a mk1 172 for a while now. There seems to be less and less good ones about now. Most of them seem to have between 30-60k on the clock. Is this average?
I was looking at one in a garage yesterday. The bloke wants £8750 for it and its done 40k. The bodywork didnt seem to...

The problem I have with the Williams is that its starting to look a little dated now. My mates got a 1.4RT in the same shape and hes had it for ages. The interior looks really dated. At least the mk1 172s looks are a bit more up to date.
Dont get me wrong the Williams is still a classic...
Why do you say that Simon?
Have you had big problems with yours or something?
I gotta say people Im surprised at your replies. I thought everyone would reply saying "Yeah go for the 172!!". Would I be right in thinking that everyone who mentioned getting something other than a 172 wishes they...

Looking for a new motor, got about 9K to spend.
There are some nice MK1 172s on Autotrader for under 9K but most of them seem to be silver. Do you think it would be a bad idea to get silver as they are quite common and they may not be as valuable as say the blue or black ones in a few years...
