yeah, I don't think I am but should I be, as a named driver on the crashed car, if I asked to be added would you think? It's just that it would really help me if I had the other car to use when my old man wasn't using it as I had just planned to use his this week as I knew the MOT was about to...
The plip key not working could be down to water leaking into the receiver unit and corroding it. I think it's quite a common problem. I'm not sure on how you would go about setting it up with another one as I'm not sure if you replaced it with one from a scrappy it would work as I would have...
When you usually get a courtesy car as a result of a crash, is everyone who was insured on the other car (crashed one) covered on the courtesy car usually?
I'm just wondering as my dad had a crash at the weekend and his car is in being fixed at the moment. My 1.4 is just out of it's MOT as...
Just read the rest of your post, if you asked them to lower it 35mm take it back and ask them to redo it. TBH if they can't do it then they can't be great mechanics as I managed to do it myself and I just teach myself as I go when it comes to working on cars.
First of all when people say that you can only lower/raise the torsion bar by 35mm at a time don't listen, it's absolute rubbish!!! You can raise or lower the torsion bar by 3mm incriments. Just set the hub to the height you want then keep rotating the torsion bar by one spline at a time till...
I'll wait till someone can confirm either way but I believe the 1.4's also have them and I know the braking on my car felt a bit different after being lowered.
I know that they test the front and rear brakes in an MOT and at times you can be failed as the rears don't brake sufficiently but what if they brake too much?
The reason I ask is that I need to MOT the 1.4 but the back is really low (lower than the front) and I have yet to adjust the rear...
Thanks mate. I wanted to check about pric e as I didn't buy any when I heard they wanted £7 a litre having been told it was much cheaper than that.
As for ATF I've seen it recommended by a few people on forums, just wanted to get peoples opinions on it.
What is tr5?
I've had a few peope recommend ATF - anyone got any opinions?
Is there much difference between different ATFs? What sort of price would I be paying for a gallon?
Also how much are you looking at spending, at a minimum, for a gallon of 75w90 oil as the guy at the factors the other day said...
How can I turn the engine over by hand? Is it just a case of putting a socket on the crank pulley? (for a MK1 1.8 16v btw)
The reason I ask is the I am changing the gearbox on the clio and having removed the old box I have put the new one into the engine bay but have to fit the new clutch which...
What would you recommend? Going to pick some up tomorrow but don't have any idea of what grade etc is best. If I don't get any response I'll probably end up going for the cheapest there, lol.
Some people definately have declared them, but as has been said the differences can at time be difficult to spot for someone who knows about the engines so it would be unlikely to be spotted by the insurance. IIRC the only real differences are the 2.0 manifold (but can use the 1.8 one), starter...
I've seen it a few times. It was parked at the end of my street last night or friday night actually, same colout as the blue clios shown in some peoples avatars above.
lol, I did think about that but TBH I don't know of any Mk3 owners on here at the moment. I would say the same with regards them in a wee while as more Mk3 clios start to appear.
I'm not sure about the old flier as I haven't seen it. I just think that as things stand the club is losing a lot of Mk1 owners to other forums and to try and stop that it needs to make sure it shows that it accomodates Mk1 owners as well. I think it's a bit different if there was only a V6 on...
It does make a difference. It might not be totally noticeable when driving but it will make a difference. Smaller moment of inertia with smaller wheel in general meaning it's easier for the engine to rotate them.
The point I was making was just that it should have been stipulated in the design criteria for the fliers that there should be both Mk1's and Mk2's . The truth is there are loads more Mk2 owners than Mk1 owners now so the voting is likely to reflect that but unless the club wants to become known...
Although there is only about 15bhp in it the main difference is that more power is availiable throughout the rev range. I've never driven a 2.0, or a 1.8 really for that matter, but anyone who has says there is a big difference in it. 0-60 times show them to be fairly close but the williams...
Best bet would be to put an F7R (williams) lump in. It's a straight swap and you would only need the bottom end of an F7R, starter motor, loom and a few other bit and pieces so you can re-use the head, gearbox, mounts, driveshafts etc. If you use a megane 2.0 bottom end (also F7R) you would...
How do I drop the subframe enough so that I can get the gearbox out?
I am in the middle of removing the box and have removed the two nearside bolts on the subframe and loosened off the two offside bolts but it's not dropped an inch.
What have I not done properly??
Please reply asap as I...
