ha ha yeah that happened to someone i worked with doing cam/balance shaft belts on an alfa, it went crazy and smacked him on the nose he just walked of and had a fag didnt say nothing lol :banghead:

put a screw driver on or near any pulleys and stick your earhole on the other end ;) the noise should travel up the screwdriver then you have found you problem.

why water pump? its not driven by the cambelt.

put it in gear, if the speedo goes up and there is no drive its the circlip that retains the diff in the box, can be found behind the n/s driveshaft welly.

not got them, have not used the company but you get what you pay for! get catcams.

just replaced the one on my 172, £174 trade with old unit exchange + 2hrs book time labour, new battery and alternator me tinks!

could be you "dog bone" mount or any of you mount for that matter as there cr@p! £35 for a uprated gearbox one of ebay.

didnt you fit group n mounts by vibrateknics?

Thanks for the reply, think I have sorted it,when i got the car it had the altenator reconditioned by some dodgy place, when giving the car some beans the altenator spikes 16.2v then all the lights have a barny, as soon as it drops back down to 14.4v the lights go out.

Anybody give my any ideas whats up with the 172? :mad: Started car the other night lights on, drive off all electrics go off for a split second inc headlamps then when they come back on all the lights flash on the dash and it will keep doing this until it gets warmer and stops!!! Has i quick...
